The end for Twinkies may just be hours away. Hostess Brands Inc., the maker of the iconic snack, announced on Wednesday that it will liquidate the entire company if not enough striking employees return to work by Thursday evening.

    Get while you still can, the 18000 striking workers pushed too hard and they are now bye bye. Unfortunately their idiocy also cost the jobs of 13000 that were not striking. Good Job Guys! Here is what brands are affected: In the United States, these include:

    Enough blame to go around. Many unions have gotten pretty greedy.

    The company announced several months ago that they were in trouble and cuts had to be made. There is plenty of blame, but the unions are a piece of the puzzle. They very clearly said they had to shut their doors if a deal wasn't made by Thursday and that is what happened.

    All employees at all levels have one thing to bring to their employer: value.

    The market place decides the level of value by how many people can bring a certain skill set to the table. At the hourly wage level, the employee brings time to the table. The problem is, there are one helluva lot of people willing and able to barter their time for pay. There are fewer who can manage an entire department. There are fewer who can manage an entire plant. Likewise an entire division. Likewise the whole enterprise. The fewer there are to fill a critical slot, the higher the pay goes. With that higher pay goes lost weekends and holidays when there are power outages, labor unrest, product rollouts, machinery upgrades, etc. But at the bottom, where the pay is less, so is the responsibility less. Come what may, the day shift clocks out at 3:00 pm and need not reappear until 7:00 am the next morning.

    From the research I just did showed that the workers at the factory were making an average of 17.60 an hour. I hardly call that minimum wage. The company could not sustain them and asked them to take an 8 percent cut which is still well above minimum wage. I hate to say it but they should of taken a temporary (yes temporary because that is what the company said) cut in pay versus nothing at all.

    It won't be the end of twinkies....well not just yet, give obama and obamcare a little time and it will. But back to the point, this is a great product line...someone will acquire it if they don't reopen.

    I am still in mourning...it is not going to be an easy ride. Just can't believe it! (Well, yes I can...after he was elected the first time I figured too many Americans are just that stupid, besides the fact that I was afraid of voter fraud...again!)

    Yes I did...19,640 for Obama and 0 for Romney in Philadelphia...and then of course those from the same precincts stating they DID vote for Romney. It's criminal!

    They will survive, the zingers you like were once a Dolly Madison Bakery product and got bought out by Hostess. These products are too profitable (barring union thug interference) to just go away, someone will by the rights.

    Hostess is out-of-business.

    18,000 people lost there jobs because 5000 bakers would not take a pay cut of 8% for the 1st year in turn for a 2% raise the next year, 3% the 2nd year, and 7% the 3rd year.

    So instead of a 4% raise in 3 years they get a 100% pay cut now.
    Yeah those Unions really know how to support their members/

    I wouldn't have taken the cut. I don't work for warm fuzzies, I work for money, which pays bills and rent. If an employer is asking me to "take one for the team" like that, then I'm abandoning ship. Know who goes down with the ship? Dead people.

    Well they sank the ship themselves by this stupidity and now have now jobs in a bad economy where millions wish they had any job.
