Yeah they are a beautiful dog, I have been in love with the breed ever since I attended a dog show with my father as a child. Although one of my dogs is a Mastiff cross, I have never personally owned one but would love to someday.
I love all dogs so much that's hard to answer. My favorite would have to be a mixed breed. I woold never buy a dog.Shelter dogs are the best. They give so much love, like they know you saved their life.
Oh, no! Lol. My bad. I meant that I have two kinds of favorite dog. But I WISH I had two of them. They are absolutely WONDERFUL guard dogs. Bred in Russia to fight off bears and whatnot.
That one in the pic there looks like it's pushing 200 lbs. I could see how a dog like that could be bread for bear duty. I talked to a woman years ago that had 2 big ole dogs. I can't remember the name of the dog but they were all black and looked like St Bernards on steroids. This lady told me both those dogs were pushing like 275 lbs each. Friendliest big dogs I've seen in a while.
I've noticed that about the big dogs. Most of them are over sized lap dogs. A buddy of mine owns a rottweiler and this dog is at least 175 lbs. When he's on his chain at the shop then you don't want to get near him but once he gets off his chain then he turns into the biggest lap dog I ever laid eyes on. I remember one time my buddy let him off his chain and that dog tried to climb up in my lap and inside of a couple minutes my legs went to sleep.
If you like to wrestle the big dogs are a lot of fun. I used to rough house with my buddies German shepherd. It got to the point that every time I came over, the dog was tickled to death to see me because I was about the only one that would rough house with him.
I guess my favorite dogs would be in the middle wt. category. (50- 100 lb. range.)Shelties are a bit smaller but I've had one and I've known other folks with them. They can be a bit temprementel but they're not bad dogs.
