What is the worst torture?

loneliness, by a mile, i should know i sadly suffer it, being alone without any girlfriend for a lifetime, it is the worst torture there it, it destroys thou, it depresses thou, it saddens thou :'( its the worst pain ive ever felt

I've got two for you...

1. Find a badger den...
find all the entrances, and block off all but two...
stake your victim out, spread-eagle over the main entrance, and build a fire in the other opening you've left for this purpose...
in a short time, the badger will dig it's way out THROUGH the victim

build a fire no more than 3 feet from victim...
carefully slice open victim's abdomen, and pull out a few feet of bowel... DO NOT CUT!

Finding out that the person you love most in this world is going to die and having to maintain a false air of normalcy in your day to day because you don't want them to become depressed by seeing the effect their situation is having on you,so you put on a false smile and an "everything is alright attitude" while you slowly fall to pieces and soon as they leave the room.

I lived this for about three years,so i speak from experience.It is indescribale torture,especially when you have the same friends and they are always asking about him while trying to keep it together because you work with the public

Oh god, I could go on forever about this topic. Last year I wrote a 16 page essay about torture over religious conviction for my history class and got 100% on it. I researched about a lot of different types but a couple that stood out to me were:
-having breasts ripped off, either with heated or cooled clamps
-breaking wheel--> being tied to a wheel and spun while the torturer beats and breaks different parts of your body
-being sawn in half (although this was an execution method, rather than torture)
-having parts burned
-the execution method of being hung, drawn, and quartered

I'd say the big one was being stretched on the rack, not just because of the pain but also because of how permanent a form of torture it really was. After muscle fibers have been stretched to a certain capacity, they can no longer contract. This combined with the fact that later models had a row of spikes installed to penetrate the spine made the victim basically immobile for the rest of their lives.
As well, the torturers would implement the physical torture on someone else and the individual would be forced to watch. It's psychological torture but it's effective.

I was a college teacher, and I'm not sure I would have asked one of my students to write an essay about torture, though.

:) Thanks and no, he didn't ask me, end of semester essay topics are always optional (it just had to be something we hadn't covered in the course). And I've always been interested in torture so it seemed like a good opportunity. The essay itself was about the different uses of torture as implemented by religious zealots.

Quite a few ypung people are curious about torture, I was a college teacher, and when I briefly mentioned the subject once in a while, some of the young ladies wanted to know more about torture. My usual answer was mentioning a few of them and asking them to check the words in an encyclopedia.
