He is Satan, who used to be Lucifer (a high archangel of God's until he tried to take over God's position). Satan literally translates into "enemy", because he is not only the enemy of God, but to all of mankind. The bible is clear who he is, and it's nobody good. It's a being I do my best to stay away from. He likes nothing better than to create turmoil and mayhem everywhere he goes. Look at the world how it is. He's done a great job of it so far.
Yes, in fact it is. God refers to the devil as Satan because he is the enemy, and this is what the word translates into from either the Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek, not sure which one it is. He will continue to be God's enemy and ours. But eventually God will definitely show Satan who is boss. He will destroy evil someday for all time. I'm looking forward to that. Satan has done enough damage to us and our world. All throughout the Old Testament devil and or Satan is used.
In the Old Testament: Job 1:verses 6 and 7 In the New Testament: Mark 3: verses 22-26
These are two examples of the word Satan being used. He's referred to as many things. The Father of Lies, the devil, the evil one, the serpent (Genesis). There is no word strong enough to express how evil Satan is. The only comforting thing is that he will be eventually destroyed with the rest of his fallen angels (demons). In the meantime I pray for all that Satan won't destroy THEM and their lives first.
