After all, it is a secondary color mixed with blue and white. Most people I hear call it powder blue, light blue, electric blue, or baby blue. What do you think would be a good name for it?

Cyan is more of a bright bluish-green color.

That sounds perfect. I would love it if they anglicized both those words. We borrowed many from French, so why not?

That would depend on which shade of light blue. All of the above are in that category. There is not a singular name that encompasses the entire spectrum of light blue.

Well red and white make pink which comes in many different shades, so I figure why not?

Because no one has yet coined a word to cover it. At least not one that has stuck. All existing words that refer to a shade of light blue refer to a specific shade (or narrow band of shades) so it would have to be a new word. Give it a go. Make something up. Maybe you'll be famous someday, (probably generations after your dead.)

The human eye can see up to 10 million colors and a lot of them are some shade of light blue. Not everyone has equal ability to differentiate all those colors, of course.

Why on earth would anyone want to use one shade of light blue to be represent all colors that are some shade of light blue?

Because it's easier to remember. The same reason why they used the name of a shade of red mixed with white and called it "pink" and why they call black and white mixed together "gray" while brown and white make "beige."

Well, you have light blue. Trying to make it more specific is where it goes wrong.

Well sometimes things sound more catchy with singular names.
