    Erosion. That statue is made of bronze which is made of copper and iron. They are on two ends of the the electrolytic scale. The statue eats itself up. Remember it is French in origin. LOL

    Well, though corrosion in the past with the bronze, copper and iron make up of Lady Liberty has been a problem and repaired many times and the more recent event from Sandy causing some erosion to her base; I'm looking for a one time, sudden event that nearly took her down.
