The correct answer is 8x-9y.

5x+3x=8x.
-2y-7y=-9y.

To get a completely numeric answer, you need the values of x and y.

Basic steps (not condensed) for those who need to see them laid out:
5x - 2y + 3x - 7y = ?

Add 2y to the other side

5x + 3x - 7y = 2y

Add 7y to the other side

5x + 3x = 9y

Add 5x and 3x together

8x = 9y

close but here is the correct answer::: 8x - 9y = ? You don't know what x or y is so you can't come to a full conclusion....

Math class would do you good.... to make a number negative the - must be close for example -2 not - 2... notice the space.. so if you have a 3 - -2= there for the 2 is then negative but since it is like 3 - 2 = with space there is no negative.. Now do you see.. You are giving me a head ache and if this doesn't explain it to you then you are completly lost and I suggest you go to math.com and study you positives and negatives......
