But that was a long time ago. Now I can consume caffeine in reasonable amounts without taking it to the extreme.
Additionally, I don't think I am addicted to any particular habit...except, living...
Technically, I'm still addicted to it.
1. It's highly addictive.
2. You become dependent on it. Quite literally-- your brain forgets how to function on its own.
3. The longer you're on it and the higher the dose, the harder it is to get off of it.
4. It has serious side-effects, including increased heart rate and blood pressure, insomnia, loss of appetite, etc. Side effects that are going to add up and hurt me over the long run.
Since going off of Adderall, I've gone through a week of withdrawal hell thus far. On the other hand, my appetite came rushing back and I'm sleeping better, and my heart rate has gone back to being consistently normal. Once the withdrawal is over, I'll stop crashing and being non-functional in the afternoons, and I'll learn to adjust to having a desire for food, and I'll recover the rest. I'll be better for it in the long run.
