I'm an artist and have designed tattoos for people. My sister currently has one of my works on her neck and that's a great feeling for me. I love art, be it a painting on canvas or body.

I admit, some people get their tattoos because they think it's "macho" or "cool". Some do it because their friends do it. But others do it so that they can forever remember an important person in their life. Some have very significant meanings behind their tatt's. When I got my tattoo, I originally got it because I loved the idea of body art. After getting the tattoo however, I decided what I would name a girl if I ever had one. I would have never come up with it were it not for my tattoo, and I've been in love with the name ever since.

I can not talk about other people, different person, different reasons.
My first one was when I was 28, I wanted to cover a nasty scar and the memories that it bringed to me, and it worked, mostly.
After that, next ones were to represent big changes in my life, they have a meaning, only important to me, and I don't regret them, and even have one for no reason, only because it was my design and I wanted to.

Coming from me a tattoo chic I got mine because I loved the thought of having body art. A way of expression. I love my tattoos and don't regret any of them.

the reason im interested in getting a tattoo..is so ill always have it with me...ill always remember it...my mom passed away in january . i want to get somethign that ill always have..for my mom :)

It used to be more a macho thing where you walk into a pub and show off your football tattoos and any other rival fans might ask you a fight but now it's all about fashion, shame.

Some do it as a trend, some do it to rebel against their parents, some just love art and others do it because their tattoo(s) has meaning.

I don't know a single person who has gotten a tattoo because it was a trend, or to be cool, or macho.

Every person I know with a tattoo has a story behind it, a very personal reason for getting one.
