OK, here is what i don't get? What exactly is the point of dressing like an idiot in public? Is that how she gets off or something? Its more than likely to distract from her being a no talent ugly looser. If she is dressed like an ass hole in public everyone will be focused on that god awful outfit she has on and it takes away from the fact that she lacks real skill, talent, and brains. From what i was told by a friend, she said in an interview she sleeps in full makeup. Now why in the world would you want to do that? If you ask me she is way more weird than Marilyn Manson and he is pretty freaking weird. She beat him though in my books.

And that is only SOME of the stupid crap she has been seen wearing, and after seeing all of that I can't help but wonder, what she would want to be buried in, what will she name her kids, what will she make them look like. Knowing her it ain't gonna be pretty.

To answer your question why she dresses the way she does - it is pure marketing genius. EVERY singer/band wants the spotlight focused on them. This is how to do it, by standing out. Does everyone like it? No. But you know what? Good or bad, Gaga has won by getting attention either way - including this poll, FYI.
I find it hard to believe you're a Steven Tyler fan as your name proclaims to be... he's every bit as odd and out of the ordinary as Lady Gaga. Except with a penis.

She's very intelligent and you're a philistine with zero knowledge of fashion, art or art history, which is what you need to really understand what she does and why it matters.
It makes you mad that she's not a generic jeans-and-tshirt nobody, and that she actually has a message and a method to what she does unlike most of the other girls in pop who are manufactured. But hey, whatever helps you cope.
