There are many different regional accents, mine is a cross between some very broad northen accents,..but what do you think of them in general? Are you a fan or do they annoy you?

I Love the British Accents, and it sounds absolulely adorable when the kids speak.

I always wondered how our own accents sound to them.? Something we may never get to hear.

there's just something (obviously) exotic and foreign about them. It's a refreshing change from the spanish and southern accents I'm always hearing here in the area I live in.

The English accent is the only accent, that I CAN'T stand. It makes me want to Puke. It is a phoney, arrogant, I'm better than you accent. They don't have to do it. Some of them practice, to make it stronger. They don't use it when they sing, why not. The singing would really sound stupid though, wouldn't it? They should all drop the phoney, childish sound and speak plain English.

PS, why don't they write with the phoney accent?

You know it's an accent, right? From a country that's been around a long time before America? Out of curiosity, is the Aussie accent also "phoney, childish"? Or is that one ok with you?
  • Willy chicago 2012/06/10 18:46:55

The Aussie accent is my second least favorite, because it is so similar to the English accent.

nothing phoney about our accents, it is after all where the english language originated and hence the american accent has its roots in the english accent and is a phoney version of the english accent if yyou apply any sort of logic. You're supposed to be 72.. start acting it please.

You have an accent to. We all do. We just can`t hear it. I think you are just saying you don`t like the British accent , just to be different, and disagreeable.
  • Willy sandra 2012/06/11 18:05:26

The other accents are not arrogant and phoney.

Lots of Brits sing in their own accent. It's the ones that sing American that are the phonies, old bean, and it only started when US pop came over here. But it is funny when some little chav from deepest Essex tries to sound like a Compton rapper :-)

Rappers from Compton certainly have a distinct accent, to me at least. As to chavs from Essex, try turning on a TV in UK and NOT hear one , I give it 5 minutes, tops :-)

There are many dialects and variations of the English language throughout the UK....I was born in east London and anyone born within earshot of Bow Cathedral is commonly known as a Cockney...I've never investigated the origins of Cockney rhyming slang and have no idea why it came about but it is a very interesting variant of the norm...the link should give you a further insight if you wish to peruse...

To be a true Cockney the bells of Bow have to be ringing and heard at the time of your birth. But how confusing if that happens and you grow up to be a 'Toff' lol

Why would you screw up the English language, so no one could understand it? That is truly asinine.
