He ordered his "family" to kill, among others, a pregnant woman. It's horrible enough to kill at all, but killing a woman who is so close to giving birth is disgusting. That he's sick might be a reason and an excuse, but it doesn't make anyone say "Oh, but then it's alright - the dude's crazy! Let's forgive him." I bet he doesn't think he's crazy.

I have no soft spot in my heart for child-murderers.

i knew guys like him back in the 60's who had LSD cults. they never murdered anyone like manson's crew did, but the leader had his group under his spell. manson had nothing more than a crazed stare as his attraction. the man is an uneducated street dealer who happened to eclipse the times.

Insanity is not a defense. He wasa responsible for brainwashing his followers then having them kill a young woman(Sharon Tate) who was also pregnant at the time and several other innocent people. He wanted to incite a race war which didn't happen thank God! Good luck with your paper.

He did kill some people, not the Tate woman and her friends, but others. He was crazy, but was hit crazy by choice or by mental disease or defect?

My theory is he was crazy by choice and possibly by drug use, but not crazy by disease or defect.

Remember, he is crazy by choice, so it is selective crazy, not genetic, psychological or damaged brain crazy. he is very, very smart about his choice of crazy. It kept him out of the chair, and away from the general prison population.

Drugs may have played a role, but he is not insane by defect or disease, nor by demonic possession so he has decided to act like that because it keeps the mystique alive. He is the most famous serial killer-ever-he enjoys that.

I would disagree with you on the demonic possession thing. I am not sure that your snap judgement has any basis besides possibly just fear or something. You don't know him, any more than I do, and you seem to instantly jump to the conclusion that he is just a liar. I don't think that quite covers it. as he has said on numerous occasions he in fact never murdered anyone. and whether or not he told anyone else to do it is a point that is up for debate. no proof has been offered on that count. He was convicted basically out of fear on the part of the jury

Yep, my opinion. And since my dad was a psychology student, in Cali at that time, who studied Manson with a professor of his, I am in a forward position here. But to each their own, that IS what sodahead is all about,.

YOUR DAD obviously didn't see or read it in real life but only past history.. IT WAS HORRIFYING AND BAD! Charles Manson knew exactly what he did when he perfectly premeditated planned , and killed those people in a ritualistic group torture killing...... HE was not insane at the time but extremely devious and nasty....... Now , he may well be insane with all the previous history and drug use. HE needs to remain inside prison and in maximum security. He can never be trusted outside of prison....NEVER !

Fox News' Greta Van Susteren just did a special report on the Manson Murders. She interviewed several people including Sharon Tate's sister and the prosecutor of the case. Read Helter Skelter that is written by the prosecutor.
