I hardly leave work, only when I have to! I love what I do so I don't mind even a little, I wish there was more time to spend there, definitely here every day, even holidays.

I currently work a ten hour day, four day a week shift. I start at 6:00 and end at 16:30. 1/2 hour for lunch and two paid-for breaks.

When I'm not earning a salary I'm often working overtime. When I'm not working overtime or earning a salary I get to do free work, like mowing the lawn, cleaning the garage, sweeping the leaves out of the street (or off the lawn),

My off days are work days too.

It depends on what you're doing. If you love your job, it's not really "work." And it depends on what your job is. For example, if you're a Youtube vlogger like Shaycarl, a 7-Day Work Week makes sense and isn't bad. But if you're, for example, a nurse who is on her feet 24/7 or if you're a teacher who has to deal with hormonal teenagers all day, you're GOING to need that weekend.

    Only if:
    - I ABSOLUTELY love whatever it is I'm getting paid to do
    - We're talking about spending half a fortnight at work and half for fun

Otherwise, you're going to have a lot more cases of this:

absolutely love paid talking spending fortnight work fun cases

Are you mad? Anyone who expects nonstop service 24/7 from certain indeviduals
other than parolees and probationers must be really angry at those indeviduals to
want to torture them in such a way. No family time? No worship services? No R
and R? Positively NO fun, NO leasure, and NO recreation of any kind whatsoever?
Absolutely NOTHING but serve and serve and serve nonstop? NO WAY! Very few,
if any, human beings out there are deserving of such horrendous treatment. Most
people can make a fair and proper contribution to society with 40 hours a week and
four to five days a week. And very few owe society more than 60 hours a week and
five to six days a week. An indevidual would have to be a really rotten to the core
person to deserve to be required to put in long hours with absolutely no days off.

I used to work three jobs in hospitals. and did work seven days a week. I would not recommend it for long. The body and mind needs days to recover.

Bad idea, it is a proven fact that a body and mind need rest to continue to fuction at maxium capacity, 5 days is enough work for a person, don't push it, think about the stress and the wear and tear on your body. IMHO

The idea of getting away is just a dream.... I have a 24 year old and an 8 year old... I figure in maybe another 10 to 15 years I may be able to get away. (wow, that sounds almost like a prison sentence doesn't it?.. doing 10 to 15... eek!)

Getting away means like a day or two at he most. Sometimes an hour or two, or the time it takes to go to a movie you know the family won't want to see is enough.

Maybe the 24 year old could baby sit the 8 year old for a time?

That is slavery. People need a private life and sufficient rest.

Think of the millions of women, always at the service of their husbands, children and other family members, working 7 days a week, assigned to all the chore and repetitive tasks, without salary and without holidays.

Good that you kept your humour. You have all my sympathy.

There is so little consideration for women, even today. You know, if throughout the world, women were paid a decent salary for all their work, suffering and sacrifices, there would be very few rich men.

I hope that you have a loving family who recognises all you have done for them.

That is the big problem, women are taken for granted. I saw so many divorces as a child. Right now, even if the situation has improved, there are many single or divorced women with one or several children struggling very hard to sustain their family.

There is a song by Marie Laforêt telling the story of a boy who gave his mother having to struggle in life an invoice on a piece of paper for the little tasks he did to help his mother. And remembering past times, she wrote for the boy all she did for him and went through and instead of amounts marked "gift". Then the little boy told his mother that he loved her and marked in big letters "gift". Unfortunately, there is no English version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?...

It is dedicated to all the devoterd mothers.

I am sending you a big hug.

Well I'm not a single Mother, but for the most part for 26 years,"I have been!" My husband came from an abusive childhood, never really knowing love."Only hurt, pain, and abandonment!" People like that are high functioning,"but detached, and have a dis-associative disorder!" All I've done for him,and the kids,as well as my Mother. And still he can't trust me!And Mother, can't ever be completely happy about anything either. It's from her first abuse of her father, and an molestation from her uncle!"It gave her split personality disorder!"She was married six times to five men,and I've had sooo many Uncles, and Daddies!Life is the hardest for us who are left to pick up the pieces, and try to make a life for these people who we love undyingly!

So sad - it is known since long that child abuse is a crime and that the victims will suffer their whole life. But little is done, evben today. I can't but praise your patience and your sacrifices.

The whole education system is sick-minded, as feudal, wasting and consuming systems support rather heavy patriarchal hierarchy and slaving methods than natural evolution.

The difference between the charter schools, and public ones in L.A. were so air apparent, that I took my kids out of public school. Couldn't afford charter,or private,so I home schooled for three years!I see a degradation of our society and it runs through out!"We're all a part of it",(what we be illin from!)So we'd better be finding a way to engage in more as part, and parcel to a way to solve those ills."Or it'll be the death of it",this beautiful thing we pride our Democracy on,"natural evolution!" All the love in the world, plus our collective consciousness is what it's gone take! LOL

I just looked into a documentary about certain right-wing parties promoting campaigns against illegal immigration, Islamism, discrimination of women, unemployment, etc. and trying to awake patriotism and gain more political power. Sure that we must fight against crime, overpopulation, intolerance and religious fanatism. But this leads to extremism and does not allow the change of mentalities toward equal rights for women or sustainability regarding economy, employment and environment. And there is still a drastic lack of respect toward other people. And that comprises the recognition of women.

The present degradation of the society is a recurrence of former feudal and patriarchal systems.

Women must speak up and remind the politicians of their economic value. You might have heard about the Belgian protest campaigns because of the politic, economic and linguistic crisis in a state without government in 2010 - 2011, namely with the sex strike of the women and the men's non-shaving protests ...

Wow! No I hadn't heard of the,"Belgian protest campaign?" But we've been doing campaigning here, and protesting. Now we're holding a "Candle Light Caroling Campaign",here at Billbray's office on Monday. As well,I'm gonna start a campaign called,"Go Fly a Kite, for Kindness!" We've gotta start a dialog across this great nation, and beyond.Bringing awareness to societal causes of violence.(So we can better fight against guns, bullying, and hate filled discrimination for one and all!) There's much to do in the New Year! And it's going to take a collective intelligence of insurmountable proportion, with very influential people turning up the heat on those who'd have their rather's to do what they will."And have always done to the working poor!"

Good to hear that you are being active and getting support.

I had lately an exchange of messages about female genital mutilations here in Europe in the immigration milieu. It is very difficult to convince the victims to speak up. I am still waiting for more details about the cases allowing to contact either the local authorities or the Red Cross.

    You're welcome.
I was indeed involved with the organisation of environmental congresses on a broad international level, which were linked with social, economic and humanitarian issues and joint action and sustainability projects, including industrial and financially weaker countries. And I was always concerned about human and animal rights and keeping myself informed and took action according to my possibilities.
