The 50's....no computers or cell phones, cheap gas, girls wore dresses, men wore suits, rock and roll was born, no wars going on, lawyers and politicians were admired professions, if you were un-employed you found another job rather than take any welfare, a college degree really meant something, and the dollar was really valuable backed by silver and gold.

the 60's were fabulous! Highschool still going on, very few drugs in school, I still lived at home and had only to think about getting good grades, swimming and riding my horse. Life was so much easier... but I was an ignorant teenager too..lol Still it was a good time to be a kid. I'd love to have it all to do again but know what I know now. There are a ton of changes I'd make, thats for damn sure!

We had a speaker in my senior sociology class who said we had to be concerned with those ddruggies who were addicted to Tylenol!! That was in '64.

The only thing right about that statement is the damage that Tylenol can do to the liver. But I'm sure that is not what he was referring to. And they were handing out 1500 years for having 1 joint of weed. This week I saw a new vending machine that dispenses medical marijuana. ( The world it is a changing.BOB DYLAN)

Tell mne about his statement. We all kind of snickered. Cocaine was the drug of choice for a lot of Hollywoodback then and how many entertainers oD from heroin? He (and the school for letting him give the speech) must not have had much confidence in the education we were receiving! Of course smal midwestern towns didn't believe they would ever have these problems - they were only in big cities. Duh!!

I wasn't saying that drug's we not a big part of the culture. IT WAS and ton of people were doing everything you could get. Mick Jagger said You can't always get what you Want,. But You Try & Try. Did have several friend that didn't make it passed the Drug error.

I think we have a miscommunication here because i was agreeing with you. It was some adults stuck their heads in the sand thinking we small towns weren't going to get involved. I once told my brother, i must have a really innocent meanor as no one ever even offered me anything so I could turn it down!! But we both had friends who did and as you said, some didn't make it. My class lost a lot of members in Viet Nam who it was later discovered some wer heavy into drugs, too.

they were prescribed very often too! lol My mom had the pure dexadrine for years, even my grannie said it sure did make her have a lot of energy! It was just common place to have docs that prescribed freely. But I was referring more to pot and that kind of thing. There was very little drug use and abuse in my school. Or I guess I should rephrase that to say I was exposed to very little.. most of my friends were more into drinking than smoking a little pot. Uppers and downers are bad for you, but they aint nothing like drinking wine....lol do you remember that song? ;)

I'd have to say the 60's or 50's. The 60's were a phenomenon our world had never seen before-a world wide music revolution led by the Beatles, etc.
the 50's had an innocence-people were totally kind, respectful, & mannerly to one another. The culture of our nation was so different than today.

I'd really like to live in the Wild West days, though. That's my cup of tea!
