The chicken came first. I sat an egg and a chicken across the road and I called them both, and the chicken came first and the egg just sat there. Which also answers that age old silly question. Why did the chicken cross the road ?

it is because of the chicken that the eggs are received chickens can give eggs which can be immediately taken to use whereas eggs when hatched immediately chickens can not be eaten.

the chicken is a relatively new species, Dinosaurs, insects, reptiles, all lay Eggs. they were around long before chickens.

EDIT:
and then, of course if you are reffering solely to the Chicken Egg, then the egg containing the Genetic code of what is now the chicken, i.e. the first chicken would have been formed by some mutation, or extreme divergence from it's parents or ancestors respectively, the former the egg, the latter, slightly more conplex as they evolved avay from another species of bird, over a rather long period of time...

Some animal had to be the first animal to use eggs externally (oviparity and ovuliparity ) rather than being ovoviviparous (eggs hatch inside female).
