I'm an atheist, but I know there's wisdom in the bible. I just can't do the god stuff. there's a thing that says 'there but for the grace of god go I'. this means that the potential for disaster, misfortune, hideous pain, heartbreaking loss, and whatever else, is enormous. and if you've not experienced anything too unpleasant, you should count yourself very lucky indeed. the potential bothers me. and people.
Those who take a perfectly good moral guideline like the sermon on the mount and form it to fit the lifestyle they are most comfortable with, instead of the other way around. Then have the temerity to call themselves Christian.
It bothers me that America is quickly becoming a nation of leeches with a lack of self-reliance, no personal responsibility, and an exaggerated sense of entitlement. We are a nation of whiners wanting free things and trinkets that buy our votes. We no longer investigate to become knowledgable, we don't research because we believe the guy with the most candy to give away, nor do we do any critical thinking. Uninformed is a kind way of idenitying Americans instead of the lazy and getting more stupid by the day folks we have become.
Right now it's my idiot neighbors. We have dogs, they have dogs. We built a large fenced in kennel in our back yard to keep our dogs contained. They just let their dogs out their back door to run all over the neighborhood. Their dogs have worn a path from their back yard to the outside of my kennel because every time they come outside they feel the need to run back and forth along my kennel and bother my dogs. Yes, I've called animal control and they've spoken to the neighbors, but unless they catch the dogs loose in the neighborhood, that's all they can do. I'm saving for a fence.
