No matter what party you are --this is a must read

Something to think about, an article by a Black Columnist.

Ken Blackwell - Columnist for the New York Sun
It's an amazing time to be alive in America. We're in a year of firsts in this presidential election: the first viable woman candidate; the first viable African-American candidate; and, a candidate who is the first frontrunning freedom fighter over 70. The next president of America will be a first.

We won't truly be in an election of firsts, however, until we judge every candidate by where they stand. We won't arrive where we should be until we no longer talk about skin color or gender.

Now that Barack Obama steps to the front of the Democratic field, we need to stop talking about his race, and start talking about his policies and his politics.

The reality is this: Though the Democrats will not have a nominee until August, unless Hillary Clinton drops out, Mr. Obama is now the frontrunner, and its time America takes a closer and deeper look at him.

Some pundits are calling him the next John F. Kennedy. He's not. He's the next George McGovern. And it's time people learned the facts.
Because the truth is that Mr. Obama is the single most liberal senator in the entire U.S. Senate. He is more liberal than Ted Kennedy, Bernie Sanders, or Mrs. Clinton.

Never in my life have I seen a presidential frontrunner whose rhetoric is so far removed from his record. Walter Mondale promised to raise our taxes, and he lost. George McGovern promised military weakness, and he lost. Michael Dukakis promised a liberal domestic agenda, and he lost.
Yet Mr. Obama is promising all those things, and he's not behind in the polls. Why? Because the press has dealt with him as if he were in a beauty pageant.
Mr. Obama talks about getting past party, getting past red and blue, to lead the United States of America. But let's look at the more defined strokes of who he is underneath this superficial 'beauty.'

Start with national security, since the president's most important duties are as commander-in-chief. Over the summer, Mr. Obama talked about invading Pakistan, a nation armed with nuclear weapons; meeting without preconditions with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who vows to destroy Israel and create another Holocaust; and Kim Jong II, who is murdering and starving his people, but emphasized that the nuclear option was off the table against terrorists - something no president has ever taken off the table since we created nuclear weapons in the 1940s. Even Democrats who have worked in national security condemned all of those remarks. Mr. Obama is a foreign-policy novice who would put our national security at risk.

Next, consider economic policy. For all its faults, our health care system is the strongest in the world. And free trade agreements, created by Bill Clinton as well as President Bush, have made more goods more affordable so that even people of modest means can live a life that no one imagined a generation ago. Yet Mr. Obama promises to raise taxes on 'the rich.' How to fix Social Security? Raise taxes. How to fix Medicare? Raise taxes. Prescription drugs? Raise taxes. Free college? Raise taxes. Socialize medicine? Raise taxes. His solution to everything is to have government take it over. Big Brother on steroids, funded by your paycheck.

Finally, look at the social issues. Mr. Obama had the audacity to open a stadium rally by saying, 'All praise and glory to God!' but says that Christian leaders speaking for life and marriage have 'hijacked' - hijacked - Christianity. He is pro-partial birth abortion, and pr omises to appoint Supreme Court justices who will rule any restriction on it unconstitutional. He espouses the abortion views of Margaret Sanger, one of the early advocates of racial cleansing. His spiritual leaders endorse homosexual marriage, and he is moving in that direction. In Illinois, he refused to vote against a statewide ban - ban - on all handguns in the state. These are radical left, Hollywood, and Sa n Francisco values, not Middle America values.

The real Mr. Obama is an easy target for the general election. Mrs. Clinton is a far tougher opponent. But Mr. Obama could win if people don't start looking behind his veneer and flowery speeches. His vision of 'bringing America together' means saying that those who disagree with his agenda for America are hijackers or warmongers. Uniting the country means adopting his liberal agenda and abandon ing any conflicting beliefs.

But right now everyone is talking about how eloquent of a speaker he is and - yes - they're talking about his race. Those should never be the factors on which we base our choice for president. Mr. Obama's radical agenda sets him far outside the American mainstream, to the left of Mrs. Clinton.
It's time to talk about the real Barack Obama. In an election of firsts, let's first make sure we elect the person who is qualified to be our president in a nuclear age during a global civilizational war.

Thank you. and off topic, but doesn't having some one like biden who has been in washington so long, been caught ying, voted for the war, supported many of bushes pet projects, even gone out with McCain, a poor choice for obama.?
also, i argree with alot of this post, But in regards of issues, wouldn't be better for obama to be talking about how his planis going to help poeple keep thier homes, heat their homes, keep thier jobs, then make a deal out of McCains homes? I mean, I had to look and I own 4 homes. 3 are investment properties. And I'm only bring home around 45 to 65 grand a year. Isn't that kinda like old washington politics? Then if you look at biden and what he has done, he has pass contracts that his son sponsored, his son is a lobbist, I don't like obama, and I don't hide it, but some of the thing he said I ageed with were one the war, two get rid of lobbist, and at the time he was for nuclear energy. And I was in shock when Michele jump out there and gave the whole you can take us to our word for our word in our bond. He broken his word serveral times on the campain trail. I'm not talking about McCain, or even my prefered choice. I'm talking about a man at face value. And for the record. I'm not a citizen of the world, but I'm a american. thru and thru

The very reason why I said I am a citizen of the world is because I deal on the world market currently & I am aware that half of our country is loaned out now thanks to Iraq mostly... & while we can talk tough all we want we need someone like the great leaders of old to be able to mix diplomacy with the cowboy to get things done in a way not to father cripple our economy.. I believe Obama has that ability... I trust him because although he was top in his class at Harvard & said to be the most brilliant law students to ever graduate from there he didn't go for the job on wall street he hit the streets to make a difference & made less than half the pay he could've doing it & how many people do that... People down him because certain people are said to know him not people that are his best friends or that had serious influence on his life but passers by that gravitate to a rising star like Obama has always been... Every man has trails in his life but its what you do when you're in them that counts & in every case he left the things that weren't righteous behind & continue to help the little guy.... & if you listen closely a lot of things the news says he 's chaged on he said he was open to the whole time..so thats my take...

Just someone ranting without having done his research. I agree with him that we should be looking at the candidates rather than at trivial things like what race and gender they are. Most Barack Obama supporters have been doing that all along. This guy just doesn't see that because he's too busy worrying about what he thinks he does see. For example, he claims that Barack Obama is promising to raise taxes. He's not. Plain and simple. What he is talking about doing is getting the government to spend tax money more wisely and shift the collection of it more toward those who can afford it without resulting hardships such as ending up homeless, jobless, and unable to pay for essentials such as food, gasoline, and medical costs. Let him rant... that's my opinion. Some people will fall for it... but I don't think the guy was trying to be deceptive. I think he simply is misguided and misinformed. Perhaps in time he will come around. If not, it's up to us to make sure that we make things better on his behalf since he won't be among those helping to bring about the changes that are so badly needed.

yeah, he's young and fresh, his voting record is clean, there's nothing there. But his wors which he speaks have been said before. His idea on taxing, look at carter, his words are a mixure of either pointblank lies, or words mixed with carter and clinton, And ifhe want to do something he woudl have stayed in senate where the real power is, he talks about unity, but his voting and action are far left. he has done nothing for both sides.

This post is funny on a number of levels...

First because someone is black does not mean they support Obama. Case in point look at Clarance Thomas.

Next all of the above is the same crap that the right and hard core Hillary folks have been tossing out that Barack has (rather eloquently) refuted already.

So, if you are truly looking for opinions...

Stop reading/listening to sound bite media and spend the time necessary to understand what positions person is really representing.

If you really have justifiable concerns, lets address them.

Thank you tom, I will talk with you, The others a little wary of me. And I called it on my self justiably. Most sound bites are on his church and that is a whole different issue altogether. But my concern is his voting record. for example he says he supports a persons right to have a gun. But he voted to ban guns in chicago. By banning gun in his home city, does he think the ones doing crime are going to just turn them over. and it didn't really do much to the crime rate. But what did do is unarm honest poeple from protecting themselves. That is one thing. i have others, but i'll start slow. so my issues can be address.

so on the death area it seems we like to kill our own. As for the high crime rate. if the police did their job, and the neighbors actully turned poeple who do crime in. the crime rate woudl go down. also the city needs tougher gun laws, as in if you do a crime with a gun, no plea deal 10 years. for any one! and that will curve those who do the crime.

but to ban weapons is wrong, lets remember what happen to those after katria hit, they had their guns taken away and the crime wave actully followed.
The comment above don't offer a working solution. but encourges the goverment to get more involde in everyday poeples life.

So The banning on Guns for the legal poeple in my eyes is still a very scary move.

    >> so on the death area it seems we like to kill our own.

I agree completely. Your statistics confirm it. We don't have an answer to the issue of the murder rates. My point was that attempts are being made to stop people from killing themselves. Those people were the ones who elected him to state office.

    >> lets remember what happen to those after katria hit, they had their guns taken away and the crime wave actually followed.

I am not advocating the confiscation of the guns in this situation, but lets remember the situation.... There was no help in site. The city truly felt abandon by the government and they were on their own. Most reports I had read said the police supported the confiscation for their own safety. They were trying to keep Marshall Law from happening. If you would like to place the blame for that insanity look at the federal government. The people of New Orleans were left to their own devices.

I think the situation for Katrina was a little more complicated than enforcing Marshall Law.

    >> The comment above don't offer a working solution.

What it offers is assurance that he has no intent on changing things. That your second amendment rights are in tact. His voting history shows that "common sense enforcement" is more in line with municipality based control, and more thorough screening.

You say his voting histroy is more of common sense. I don't see that. he voted yes, on the following

    07/11/2006 USEMA Amendment
    HR 5441 Y Amendment Adopted (Senate) - S
    (87 - 11)
    07/11/2006 FEMA Amendment
    HR 5441 Y Amendment Rejected (Senate) - S
    (32 - 66)
03/02/2006 USA PATRIOT and Terrorism Prevention Reauthorization
    HR 3199 Y Conference Report Adopted (Senate) - S
    (89 - 10)
12/16/2005 USA PATRIOT and Terrorism Prevention Reauthorization
    HR 3199

This are the corner stones of our goverment which allows them to raid your homes, hold you with out a lawyer, and hold you with out charging you. These bills he actully voted yes on are the flag ships that steal americain rights. And the list he didn't vote on or voted present are on things that help americain keep their rights. look at the bill he had to vote on back in 1999, to support a bill that would let some juveniles be tried as adults.. he didn't vote nay or yes, but present. And why, because it was in his home city and would allow young adult who commit serious crimes be charged as adult. The news said this bill was highly opposted by blacks. It seems he doesn't use common sese unless you are looking at common sense to get elected. some time you have to take a tough stand, and his voting record he don't do that it seems.

When I vote, I vote for the 'best ticket'. Typically, my person is not on the ticket.

    Some scary facts -

USEMA/FEMA Amendment - Voted with McCain. Moving FEMA was at the heart, and putting it under homeland security still makes sense. The new name is stupid and the general work they do needs an over hall.

USA PATRIOT and Terrorism Prevention Reauthorization - Voted with McCain and Clinton on this one.

I would like to see the entire Patriot Act repealed. I think that it is a grotesque invasion of my civil liberties. It was the foundation of the Bush administrations crimes against the constitution. I do not see anyone at this time being able to repeal it no matter how criminal it is.

There are two candidates who would repeal it all together. Ron Paul and Ralph Nader are not going to win a general election. It will be interesting to see what comes of the GE version of Barack. His policies have so many strengths in my eyes that I will look past some of the negatives.

can you give examples of his many strengths. Ilook at his voting record and I see big goverment becoming a full blown out monster where the goverment is every part of a average persons daily life . He has been voting so far left that it's actully scary in many peoples eyes, inculding mind. Like his comment he asnwered dealing with forien polies. He is only a junior senator and I don't think he holds the full scope of how to deal with forein nations and americia's interst in these nations. Yes the war is a total mess up, and if you follow the law the election is still anyones game. The primarys are not a legal election per say.

Why I support a candidate is a personal decision. I have no real 'party' affiliation other than, I like to be able to vote and California doesn't really play nice with independents.

How do you get my vote? Your policy has to start with a social conscious that addresses the people of U.S.

At the top for me is education.

Obama is a big advocate of Charter Schools. This means the community must be involved in direction of the school. If federal funding is given to education, a large portion of it should be used to support teachers, as in pay, tools and programs. Also higher education should be affordable to those students who have proven (via GPA) there dedication in years prior.

He is also an advocate of affordable day care, re-education and welfare reform that enables people to succeed in today economy.

His plans for economic stimulus are based on rebuilding failing infrastructure (schools, roads, bridges ...), refocus on energy and a green economy and investment in science.

On foreign policy he believes in diplomacy first and the use of the military only as a last resort. He wants to rebuild the military via an aggressive benefits plan.

ACTION ALERT: Blackwell purged Ohio Voter Rolls Oct 1st.- Vote Early.

Wed Oct 18, 2006 at 05:59:14 AM PDT
A friend, in a position to be present at lunches of GOP insiders here in DC called me on Thursday, they know of my ongoing efforts to make hackable voting end.

My friend was present as a group of Moderate GOP members with Ohio ties lamented how far the party had strayed. There was consensus at the table there was no way they should retain control. The table conversation began with the assumption they party would lose control in this election. The moderates started planning how to take back control of the GOP from the extremists.

Then, one insider, probably an extremist, but certainly very close to Mr. Ken Mehlman abruptly stopped the conversation. He told table that it was impossible they would lose either house. He also predicts an Ohio GOP sweep.

    More Below.

He informed the group that over the last year, in four critical states the GOP needs to hold huge purges of the voter rolls have just been finished.

    More Below.

    KStreetProjector's diary :: ::
He informed the group that over the last year, in four critical states the GOP needs to hold huge purges of the voter rolls have just been finished.

The insider did not say which four states, but did say Ohio was among them.

His claim was a new Diebold voter registry system had been installed over the last year. The last week of July and the first week of August a "test run" was made of the systems ability to purge ineligable voters. The purge generated names and test letters sent out to 1.2 million Ohio addresses with a focus on University's, Apartment addresses with high turnover. He claims they made the letters seem just functionary, but they have an action component to avoid being purged from the rolls.

The Insider warmed and said that Blackwell was brilliant in how he did this. The letter went on for a long time about changes in Ohio voting and security and suggested people who might have any concerns about their voting status could come by county offices and confirm their continued voting eligability before election day.

He further added, that since it was conducted as a "test" they only sent letters to a limited number of suspect addresses and "I suspect Blackwell chose criteria very very favorable for us."

Further the insider stated that Blackwell had only purged the lists after a full 60 days was given for people to respond. Which means even if a voter was on the "termination" list, they would still have been eligable to vote in the primary.

He told they table they believe the purge has probably caught up "hundreds of thousands of students, activists and wanderers with no real job" would show up at the polls and have to vote provisionally.

He predicted to the table that tens of thousands of voters will show up on election day, and once the provisionals are used up will simply not be able to at all.

He also said that this "operation" (The Insiders word, my friend was specific about this" had turned up a lot of additional fascinating information including a number of Democrats in elected office who are registered to vote in several places, and they may explore how to use this information against them.

I am going to assume, Mr. Blackwell's "test" purge went to no-one registered GOP. His criteria is something I am trying to get a copy of now.

Friday I called friends in Lorain County and Wayne County Ohio. I told them this DC tale. Neither of them had voted yet and I asked them if they could go on Monday to either early vote, or apply for an absentee ballot. And if possible sit for in the Elections Office for an hour and determine if anyone was expressiing surprise they were no longer registered.

If the sample of 11AM-1PM in Lorain County Ohio and 10AM-11AM in Wayne County Ohio are true. Then Ohio Democratic Voters had better go and Vote Early if they plan to vote at all.

At Lorain County, my friend arrived to find a line of over 15 people, many of whom had come back for a second time, all of them Democrats who had arrived to vote and been told that Drivers Liscence Information, or in one case Home Ownership Information had not matched the address provided for Voter Registration.

In one case a college student had been purged because he had changed dorms on campus.

In another case a local blue-collar worker had been purged because his voter registration had only his building address, but his drivers liscense included an apartment number. This tiny difference in information had led to his purging.

While everyone present seemed to have enough information to allow the records to be updated, my friend told me it was being done by one and only one clerk and was taking a very long time, about 5 minutes per person to resolve. Everyone in line confirmed that several voters had given up in frustration and left.

In Wayne County the sample is smaller, but during the one hour he stated 18 people arrived for absentee ballots or to vote early. Wayne County had 3 Diebold TSX Touch Screens set up for early voters. Of those who arrived two of them had been provisionally purged. The first was again a student from a local college, she was sent away and told she had to bring some ID beyond her student ID to prove she was resident at the College. She was wearing a Sherrod Brown button. The second was a local guy who owns two houses on the same block. His drivers liscence is to the one house where he keeps his cars, but his voter roll is in his house where he actually sleeps four houses away. This got resolved with a series of steps that included filling out two forms, and a clerk having to enter the corrected information into two seperate computers.

As an added bonus, My friend listened in and witnessed 8 retired ladies getting instructions on how to be poll workers on the new TSX machines. The instructor was a local elections board member. She was asked many questions by one of the retirees and her answer to almost all of them was "I don't know how it works, I just know how we are supposed to use it"

    Get ready Ohio.

This story also may explain Mr. Blackwell's sudden discovery of the "two homes and is he really a qualifed Voter" now facing Strickland.

This Blackwell discovery of Mr. Strickland is actually "by-catch" of the much larger net thrown to eliminate hundred of thousands of democrats from the voting rolls.

ACTION: Get to your election boards, bring all the documentation you can. Demand a paper absentee ballot. Alert a everyone you know in Ohio.

Good luck out there. This doesn't eliminate the fact your Diebold System is utterly hackable, but it certainly explains how Rove plans to drag all your races into the margin of error so hitting the Diebold Button to steal the election doesn't look so obvious.

He has taken away your right to vote based on any piece of mismatched information in your state records.

I would expect that would be nearly everyone if the test was applied across the board. But I suspect it was not done that way by Mr. Blackwell.

It might be worth other states starting to look at this issue as well.

They are very much in love with the power they have my friends. I am increasing afraid this one one ends as another of my friends now says very often: "By Feeding the Tree of Liberty."

I am looking for opinoins, rebutals and justifiable reason. I am here to learn. and to understand. In this group I will only read. and not make any comments of ill nature toward your choice, the questions asked will be word carefully to no to offend. These are justifiable concerns. those who support Obama hold the most knowledge of this man. i only know his voting record, which is posted in my blogs. I am deeply curious on why Obama supporters are so in step with thier choice. I feel such a quest for knowledge should be honored. If you feel different in me reading and trying to understand the obama movement in a non racial form. i will leave this group.

This group was formed with the intentions of allowing Obama supporters to talk and exchange ideas. This isn't a place to poke and probe and find out the motivations of Obama supporters. You make it sound like people who support Obama are of a cult. If you want to understand the reason we support Obama, just open your eyes and ears. Realize the world you are living in. If you are an extra conservative Republican, then perhaps you won't understand why we support Obama. To be honest, I'd like to poke and probe around Republicans to see why they feel that they have a strong hold on faith and Christianity. Why they are always the first to condemn someone, while supposedly keeping God's laws. If you are on a quest for knowledge, you should use resources that are open for the public. To ask such a question, and you aren't an Obama supporter, is an insult. You used this question as some type of bait for Obama supporters to complaign. As stated earlier, this is group for Obama supporters, not scientists or social scientist. If you want to learn and understand, turn on your television, visit youtube, visit those who are less fortunate, or visit your local public elementary school. Please, don't do your investigations in this group.

Ok, that's great and all, but you shouldn't look to other people to find your logic. Let's not get on the supporters screaming at rallies and fainting....did you watch the rules and bylaws meeting? If you don't know why people support him, then you just probably will never get it. I just don't see how you can go from supporting Hillary to voting Republican. If you vote on issues, that wouldn't have been an option for you.

I know the article I posted is true. I live in Northwest Pennsyl. and could walk across the state line to Ohio. I worked in Ohio for 20 years, and I lived in the state for six. Youngstown, to be exact. I am all too well familiar with Mr. Blackwell, to speak his name leaves a bad taste in my mouth. My daughter was once a student at Wilberforce College in Ohio where she worked for the democratic party. She was an eye witness to the debacle that I feel stole another election for G.W. Bush. At that time he was the Secretary of State, and had sold his soul to the republican party, he is a liar and the truth ain't in him.
