Hi Tudie, I'm not exactly why my cooking seems to please everybody, besides that I cook from the heart, with love, and I don't use specific recipes. As far as the potato salad goes, I do two things different than most written recipes call for. I use dill pickle instead of sweet, and I use red potatoes that have been in the refrigerator for at least 3 weeks. I know putting potatoes in the frig goes against the norm, (I worked in a large produce dept. for 17 years) but leaving the potatoes in there brings out the sugars in the spuds, and they end up having a natural sweet flavor, almost like a sweet potato. So, maybe that's part of the flavor difference. I've cooked every meal since I've been married (19 years) and my wife said I've never made anything she didn't love. Have a great holiday!
Spending the day out on the deck, grillin' burgers and hot dogs, served with potato salad, baked beans, beer etc. Maybe I'll bake an apple pie for dessert.
heading over to the in-laws to let the kids play in the pool, grill some hamburgers and hot dogs, then pop some fireworks when it gets dark. :) Happy birthday USA!
Good old fashioned barbeque. . . You know, all the patriotic American stuff. Corn on the cob, homemade baked apple pie, hot dogs, brats, all the good stuff. . . then watch the fireworks!
Hope you have a great 4th Trudie!
