I have a son with special needs. He has very severe bipolar disorder with psychotic affect, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Intermittent Explosive Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, ADD and an undiagnosed sensory disorder. He has been hospitalized 15 times in 8 years, his longest hospitalization was 40 days. He attends a Private Therapuetic Day School which specifically treats children with issues and conditions like my son has. It took me years to learn his triggers and to be able to read his emotions through his body language. I took the Non-violent Crisis Intervention class TWICE. I have read several books on Pediatric Bipolar Disorder, I am a member of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) and heave attended NAMI Mom Support group for years. I worked in the medical field for over 12 years, 2 years in Pediatric Primary Care. I know more about Pediatric Bipolar Disorder than some Psychiatrists.
My biggest pet peeve is when some one judges me in how I care for, discipline and/or handle my son or situations with my son. And/or when they tell me how I should care for him and they say things like "you just need to beat that kid" or "let him cut himself with a knife, he is just bluffing", or "when he is threatening to commit suicide and you are driving on I94 in Chica...

I actually had an Internal Medicine Doctor tell me once "you just need to spank him, give him a good beating." ....EXCUSE ME!!! BIPOLAR DISORDER IS A CHEMICAL IMBALANCE IN THE BRAIN SOMETIMES CAUSING PSYCHOTIC BREAKS WITH REALITY! DO YOU BEAT A PATIENT THAT GOES TO THE ER WITH A STROKE OR DIABETES AS STANDARD MEDICAL TREATMENT!?! NO!! AND YOU DO NOT BEAT A CHILD WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS WHICH HE IS ON 3 MEDICATIONS FOR (THAT COST $1,900 A MONTH) TO TREAT HIS MEDICAL CONDITION AND FIX HIM!
I hate it when people leave something on if they're not using it. For example: My little brother will sit in the living room, turn the fan on, and walk out... leaving it on. -.- It bugs me... a lot.
rudeness, racists and sheer ignorence to a person's ideals, in the end we are all people and should want to get along, too much fighting in the world believe me i have seen a lot by being in the army, life is by far a short underlived experience and should not be taken for granted
oh my gosh!! haha tapping! like my brother plays the drums and he will just drum on his legs with his hands or tap his feet and it just ugh!! it annoys me so much!!:D haha
lol, you would HATE to be next to me. xD I always have to tap my fingers and legs or whatever and make little beats, a rhythm or whatever lol. XD It's okay... you'll live. :P
dishonesty and lack of integrity. People who try to take away my freedom of speech and expression after I served 20 years preserving their right to freedom of speech and expression
