Here's proof that a simple two-weeks notice just doesn't cut it anymore. Joey, who had been working at the Marriott Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island for more than three years, decided it was time to quit his job -- and he wanted to go out with a bang. Quite literally.
With the help of 19 of his friends -- who just happen to be members in a marching band, mind you -- Joey walked right in to the hotel entrance, handed his boss a resignation letter and firmly yelled "I quit!"
Then, the amazing stuff happened. The marching band let out quite a performance. Trumpets roared, drums banged and cymbals smashed as the band loudly made its way out of the hotel. All in a day's work, we guess.
You'll have to watch the video for the full effect. But with the Jet Blue guy's epic "I quit" moment and now this, we see a trend surfacing among disgruntled employees.
Do you think this is one of the best ways to quit a job?

i love the way he held the door open for everyone, but then the guy with the HUGE instrument he just let the door swing... lol
Another thing was the sign that said, "This department has worked _ days without a lost time accident." It seems like whoever calls in sick at that place, gets humiliated publicly.
I worked at Aetna and any time you called out sick you got an "occurrence" even if you had a car accident. After 5 "occurences" in a year you were fired. Its the same thing with this place, they just call it "lost time accidents".
Some companies treat their employees like garbage, and use cruel intimidation techniques to control them.

What about all those people paying good hard earned money to stay in that hotel, who since its night, could of been sleeping! Should they be incovienced by this person?
He had an opportunity to work to earn money, what more was he asking from his employer?
Wouldn't it of been better to sit your boss down, give him a two week notice letter, train the new employee or give them time to find someone else, and say your exploring other employment opportunities because your current arangement is not working out?
Now he's burned a bridge and lost a reference!
This will be the same guy complaining that he can't find a job and asking the government what they intend to do about it.
What would you rather have, an a--hole boss and a paycheck or no boss and no paycheck?
This attitude is why unions are necessary- too many people think it's okay to treat employees like animals- and that employees should accept such treatment- it shouldn't be that way!!!!!
Unions can also slow a company down from advancement and keep those who don't put in their fair share employed.
Your work history follows you, when it comes to finding another job (wether he had another job lined up or not) this could come back to haunt him.
I would still call the police for vandalism (the girl changing the sign, OSHA rules) and tresspassing.
But I still feel a two weeks notice is all that is needed, not this show and dance.
It can get pretty nasty when you have someone who is young, good looking, smart, mayb that kid was attending college and intends to be someody in life and not some supervisor in a hotel, and that guy, older, fat and balding who isnt going anywhere else but that hotel.
Jealousy comes into play and they make your life hell. Ive lived it and seen it happen to others.
Why are they above the employees who are doing their jobs or the managing staff who keep them employed by keeping the hotel filled or the customers who are staying at the hotel?
It was immature and selfish.
