# WASHINGTON: BRILLIANTLY EXPLAINED

This rather brilliantly cuts thru all the political doublespeak we get.
It puts it into a much better perspective.

Lesson # 1:
* U.S. Tax revenue: \$2,170,000,000,000
* Fed budget: \$3,820,000,000,000
* New debt: \$ 1,650,000,000,000
* National debt: \$14,271,000,000,000
* Recent budget cuts: \$ 38,500,000,000

Let's now remove 8 zeros and pretend it's a household budget:

* Annual family income: \$21,700
* Money the family spent: \$38,200
* New debt on the credit card: \$16,500
* Outstanding balance on the credit card: \$142,710
* Total budget cuts: \$385
Got It ?????

OK, now Lesson # 2:

Here's another way to look at the Debt Ceiling:

Let's say, You come home from work and find there has been a sewer backup in your neighborhood....and your home has sewage all the way up to your ceilings.
What do you think you should do ......

Raise the ceilings, or pump out the crap?

Your choice is coming Nov. 2012.
You!

Not to change the subject but ..........
Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand.

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner and the bill
for all ten comes to \$100.
If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:
The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing.
The fifth would pay \$1.
The sixth would pay \$3.
The seventh would pay \$7.
The eighth would pay \$12.
The ninth would pay \$18.
The tenth man (the richest) would pay \$59.

So, that's what they decided to do.
The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve.
"Since you are all such good customers," he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by \$20."
Dinner for the ten now cost just \$80.
The group still wanted to pay their bill the way we pay our taxes so the first four men were unaffected.
But what about the other six men - the paying customers?
How could they divide the \$20 windfall so that everyone would get his 'fair share?' They realized that \$20 divided by six is \$3.33.
But if they subtracted that from everybody's share, then the fifth man and the sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal.

So, the ...

So, the restaurant owner suggested that it would be fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay.

And so:

The fifth man, like the first four, now paid nothing (100 savings).
The sixth now paid \$2 instead of \$3 (33 savings).
The seventh now paid \$5 instead of \$7 (28 savings).
The eighth now paid \$9 instead of \$12 (25 savings)
The ninth now paid \$14 instead of \$18 (22 savings).
The tenth now paid \$49 instead of \$59 (16 savings).
Each of the six was better off than before. And the first four continued to eat for free.

But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings.

"I only got a dollar out of the \$20," declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man," but he got \$10!"
"Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got ten times more than me!"
"That's true!!" shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get \$10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison.
"We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor!"
The nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up.

The next night the tenth man didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn't have enough money between all of them for even half of the bill!

And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start eating overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier.

Thanks....that was GREAT!

Great post! I think that says it all not to mention the forced Obamacare and shove toward the One-World Government. I really don't think he planned this out very well.
• Bob DiN 2012/08/12 21:05:28 (edited)
Good post but the national debt is a consevative figure. Projected for fiscal 2012 it's a \$16.2 trillion deficit.
• Yo'Adri... Bob DiN 2012/08/13 23:30:30
WHo really has the correct figures??????? Thanks for the comment. You are absoltuely right.
• Bob DiN Yo'Adri... 2012/08/14 00:49:34
The figure I posted is from the Government. The lower figures are what the deficit as of the last week. They do not represent addtional deficit spending and interest projected until the end of year 2012. The interest alone amount to \$millions a day alone..
• Yo'Adri... Bob DiN 2012/08/15 01:03:09
probably right.......government always makes things distorted....to their side.!
• Bob DiN Yo'Adri... 2012/08/15 12:26:31
I'd say so. Also when has a government project come in under budget? Add on that big governmet is very expensive, incompenet and corrupt.
• Swampdog PWCM 2012/08/12 20:35:56
I wish everyone could understand those figures.
• DuncanONeil 2012/08/12 18:31:40
Problem is there is no Federal budget. Hasn't been since BHO took office!
• Bob DiN DuncanO... 2012/08/12 21:08:54
Looks like Obama will be the first POTUS is US History to not have a budget for a full term. It makes it kind of obvious he only cares about spending and not about budgets, bond downgrades and default.

No, excellent that what was written shows that everyone needs to pay taxes. Do not have any idea how you got budget into that.

This bunch doesn't get it. They must go in November.
• Roger 2012/08/12 13:48:13
I just wish there were more people out there that would understand those numbers. If I were to show them to most Democratcs I know I would see the same blank stare that a deer shows in my headlights. Only the deer would not call me a racist to end the confusion.

They ARE LIKE 'PROGRAMMED" ROBOTS.....! no mind of their own.....Hypnotized to believe everythng that they are told to 'memorize".
The truth is complicated. They can't understand the truth. Obama says GM is doing great even though GM is on the verge of failing again and needing another bailout, and they believe that. He says he has created thousands of jobs even though fewer people are working, and they believe that. He says that Bain under Romney outsourced jobs even though it has been proven to be false, and they believe that. Obama is very good at keeping it simple and in terms they can understand even if it is a lie. Hell, he even says he has done a good job, but he has been the biggest disaster in Presidential history, and they believe that.
That, my friend would be a waste of time...They know nothing but what they are TOLD.....
Thanks for the comment........
• U-Dog 2012/08/12 13:46:58
Don't worry, the cronies have it all under control lol.

Borrowing money and giving it away as foreign aid, as well as fighting other peoples wars for them doesn't make very good financial sense either.
Been waiting almost 4 years for the Ovomit Administration to balance the budget..They AREN'T interested......not in the least.!
