England is a beautiful country. We have everything from sandy beaches to snow capped mountains and lots of wonderful scenery in between. We also have the best health care system in the world paid for by taxation.

I live in N. Wales which is very picturesque.

You do need a car to get about to visit many of those beautiful places as many are off the beaten track.

So far most of the Brits I've met on SH and in real life have been kind and respectful towards me. They make me interested in visiting the United Kingdom one day.

I have a few relatives who live there and some British in my genealogical tree, although we're mostly Norman French and Irish. England is an interesting place with a fascinating history.

but it's not united, and it's not a kingdom. I'm sure I've heard this quoted somewhere. but strenuous efforts have failed to establish the truth or otherwise of it. so I'm going to follow the example of christianity and assume it's true. if I'm wrong, I'll just pretend I'm not.

england s green and pleasant land

In the 1970's I lived for 2 years in Suffolk with the USAF. I enjoyed my travels there and occasionally think of more things I would like to go back to see and do. Though I really believe that it is changed by both socialism and Islam.

Holy crap, that sounds like the US. What is it that people disagree on the most? I think more than anything religion divides us here in the US.

And it divides us here as well, add to that National Identity, politics, income, those in and out of work, hell even football......sorry soccer.
Apart from that we're just one happy, well adjusted country LOL

You lent money to the Irish because we are your biggest trading partner and vice versa .Ireland is moving out of recession while your country is heading into its third, and Camerons government is at a loss at what to do ,maybe they will print more money like your special relationship partner the USA ,or take your peoples's mind off the recession like thatcher and blair did by picking a war to go to..,so that you can flag wave and forget about your own train wreck economy .You forget that Ireland does not claim to be bigger or more important than it is. Every generation a lot of Irish emigrate to find ,not only jobs, but better paid jobs because of their education. We are a small island so of course people leave ,recession or no recession .There are more British people flooding the USA,Canada, why is that ? I believe that Scotland will leave the union ,and i think that Wales is already absorbed into England .English MPs have complained for years how much Scotland costs the English tax-payer ,and ,as for the north of Ireland ,that too costs a fortune to keep and the riots were over the Union Jack flying over belfast city council all year round ,even in britain itself they dont do that ! The majority of councillors on the council are Irish Nationalists and they agreed to flying for...
