Your Mom may not be an expert but I am sure she is acting in your best interest.

Your mom is smart. Stay away from drug users until you're older. Besides, I'm pretty sure your mom has earned the right to tell you she doesn't like you hanging out with stoners who regularly get busted.

Yeah, it's a parent's job to be a pain in the ass... she does it cause she loves you and wants to protect you... I understand your frustration, but ... cherish them while you can... Someday we all become orphans ..... just sayin' . . . peace ;-}

Your mom obviously cares about you. Giving a kid everything they WANT is not the best way of showing them that they are loved. Taking care of them is.
Is there not an organised club in the area that you could go to? Maybe your mom could give you a lift to the local rugby grounds if there is a youth group there?

Your mom is just saying that because she love you. Now if you want to annoy your mom do somthing with her that you wouldn't do with her. Than tell her you did it because you love her.

It's sad that police are arresting more and more kids for things that are minimal.

When I was seventeen, I was thrown to the ground by a cop who thought that I knew a drug dealer walking behind me. When it became clear that he did not know me, the cop let me go but I was incredibly terrified. We sometimes are judged by the people in our periphery.

You're mom i trying to look out for you. I'm sad that it interferes with sports, though. That's not fair.

I don't think she's worried about you doing drugs. She trusts you. She's just worried that if that girl or some other teenager at the park does something stupid, the cops will think you're a stoner, too. She just doesn't want you to go to jail for something you didn't do. Yes, I believe marijuana should be legalized because I think it's bad for you, like smoking or drinking, but if a person wants to do it without harming anyone else, that's their business. I do think the pot law should be removed, but some people who don't believe in following it only think that way because they just don't care about the law. Your mom is just worried that these people will be doing bad stuff like shooting guns or doing worse drugs than pot. But I know how you feel. I'm 16 and my mom and my brother are way too overprotective of me sometimes.

You should stay away from those smokers, it will not benefit you in any way. Find some different friends to play soccer with if you can. I can understand how you feel but I can also understand how your mom feels. She is just looking out for your welfare because she loves you and she does not want anything bad to happen to happen to you.

My daughter goes across the street to kick a ball around with a bunch of stoners. If she gets busted she could ruin her life and cost me a bunch of money in the process...etc

Yeah, if they're ever lighting up or selling stay away. Even if they're your friends. I don't understand why kids would go to the park to partake in illicit activities, there has to be less vulnerable places around... I mean if people are going to do something foolish then they should at-least try to be smart about it. That's why there's laws in the first place, to protect people from themselves...

Your mom is right. I personally think weed should be legal, but that girl is breaking the law. You have to understand that. Hanging around her when she's high or using puts you in danger.

She cares very much about you. Realize that while dealing with the frustration, she's not just being arbitrary. If there have been "busts" at the park, as you say, this is a big concern.

I remember dealing with a father who sometimes seemed to believe that every other kid in America was on dope. I kinda know what your feeling.

If you have no drugs in your possession, they can't charge you with possession of drugs. Hanging out by/with people of less than stellar reputations is just that...and may only arouse suspicions, but is no crime.

Trust me: you can get into serious trouble by keeping the wrong company. I almost went to court because the local police thought I was trading sex for crack, just because I was talking with a man who had previously been involved with drugs. It may not be right, but it happens.

I completely understand the desire for soccer though. (I'm far too scrawny for rugby). Sometimes it's best to give up something for your greater well-being :/.

Here's an alternative for your sports: Does your school have a soccer or rugby team? I know my high school has both. Why don't you join the school team when the respective seasons come around? Then you'll have a place to play, and she won't have to worry about you hanging with stoners when you're playing.

Your mother is being a bit overprotective with this but you should still watch yourself, a lot of people get caught in wrong place wrong time situations like that.

That's great she is trying to help you. If you like playing rugby you can probably find another, better team to play with. The worrisome part is she mentioned "another bust" at the park. You might say you want to play soccer or rugby and you want to find a team to play with and your mom could help you find something more organized. BTW, Rugby is a lot of fun - very cool.

kids are annoying. they only put up with you because you're their kid. so it goes both ways.
