  Hate to break the train of thought but here is my favorite. I used to hump one in Vietnam and it was a big improvement over the M-16. It's the M-16-A1E.

  I have shot a Glock 26 and a Colt M1911, and I prefer the 1911 for it's accuracy and ease of use, but that's just me.

  9mm is for pocket gun's that use the .380 ACP. Most of those are hardly what I would consider compact.

  I'd have to go with glock or ruger . I have no guns in my house and no safe one either, just yet. I have plenty of knives in my house though.

  My fav is the Erma Werke, a 380, very close to the 9mm. It's light weight and easy to use, especially for a woman.

  9 mm is good for a small carry around. For Home defense I prefer something like this... Wish I could get one.

  I think the Cobra Patriots probably the best one to use if you are a woman...less kick and accurate, plus easy to clean, lifetime warranty and cheap $250

  Very cool, Art. I'm kind of interested in a 10 mm. They have apparently shown that 10mm is the caliber that you need to actually stop someone. My interest is self-defense, although target shooting is also fun. If this line up works for 10mm too - great - but if it doesn't, would you mind letting me know? I can't afford one right now, but it is on my wish list.

  Looks like a Walther PPK ? Had one in .380 traded for a 9mm would like to have that PPS but man they are proud of that one :-)
