To Non-Chrstians: Do you find it annoying when a Christian says they are going to "pray" for you?

I didn't say I was a christian but there's nothing wrong with prayer.I would come closer to believeing in God than some goat screwing child molester.

What does that have to do with anything?

By the same token, you can also just ignore it when Christians say they will pray for you.

How come you give yourself permission to be annoyed by others, but when others are annoyed by you, you tell them to just ignore it?

Double standards are not the highest standards to which anyone should aspire. Just some friendly advice.

It's different when the other does it often. (Christians to do that ALL the time.)

I just tell the, not to waste their time. rather wasting your time on something as irrelevent as prayer.. Go buy some flowers and take them to an Old folks home and brighten some old lady day that has been forgotten by her family.. Or go play checkers with some old man and have a talk to them...Make someones day instead of wasting your time...

No because they usually meant well and feel that there is nothing else they can do. It probably makes them feel better too.

It dosnt bother me becuase I respect everyones beliefs and if they think they are helping by doing it then its for their own peace of mind anyways. As long as they dont want to pray with me or force it on me I dont care what they do.

Why don't you ignore the comments to pray for you then?? It goes both ways. No I don't think it's annoying, to answer your question; unless they say it purposely to be rude.

Most of the time when they say it where not in a friendly conversation. T_T and it's hard to ignore a bunch of people who constantly say it. >.>

Now, here is a question that needs a "None of the Above" answer option. Mainly because us Christians want to chime in and PRAY FOR YOU! Besides, I feel a bit sorry for you, choosing a name such as 666_Maggots~Passionforglory...it just begs for a healing Prayer!

we as Christians should not judge like that. I have seen so many "Christians" do this and it is sad. I've had names as gothic whatever and with this name and get so many of "us" to bash me and what not. We will see them by their fruit, not by mere appearance. :)

As an Agnostic Christian (Theist) I find it annoying or even hypocritical that they say this when I know they aren't going to do it or they say they did but their body language says otherwise... easiest way to tell there is if they forget they said they would do it and then say yes they did when you remind them.

We've all seen them do this but they aren't the only ones as people of all faiths do it. Even Native Americans promise to pray or speak for you with the spirits they worship. So it's not fair to single Christians out on this question... but if they claim they are going to pray for you, they should do it right there, right then to prove they mean what they say. When they make a meaningless promise or say a meaningless prayer, then why do it when the important part of prayers for someone is that they know you did it... correct?

Most of those people I call on this actually do admit they didn't and try to make excuses... after having lied saying they did pray for me.

God doesn't respect a liar and it is a sin to do it. So if you are a Christian, don't do this unless you mean to say your prayers right there and then where the person you are praying for sees and hears you do it.

My comment is pretty much identical to what JohnT has put - in that they're just being polite and it's actually kind when they do that and that we should respect other's faiths... also, I am agnostic.

But if they don't say the prayer then it's a lie and lying is a sin correct. Often many Christians say this to be polite as you say but then do not pray for you... thus, a lie not just to you but to the God they worship and to themselves. It is thus, a violation of their beliefs when they make such polite lies. You can respect people who do this in regard to them trying to be nice, but as an Agnostic Christian, I find them to be lying hypocrites if they do not do the prayer right then, right there for people to see it rather than telling you they said prayers when they actually did not... many will admit it when you catch them lying about this and if you believe in the Christian faith... you cannot tell such lies.

I don't understand why you feel the need to challenge them on it, why you can't just say thanks or ignore it, and move on. If they are lying to you and it is a sin in their god's eyes, then let them work it out.

I'm catholic, but I find it annoying due to the sense I've seen this from a great deal of people saying someone is wrong and that they'll pray for them. Quite honestly it annoys me to no end simply due to the fact I hate false kindness and consideration.

Only Satan and his army will get annoyed! Because Prayer is a powerful tool, and Satan knows that, and so he makes his followers get annoy about prayer. So they will reject it and hand him (Satan) the power over their souls.

i am a christian and it even annoys me sometimes. maybe its jus the way they say it or the fact that they think i NEED them or somethin but i guess they jus care, still kinda annoys me at times tho.

Sometimes. It really depends upon the circumstances. I had brain surgery (exploratory, they found one) and I had people tell me they were praying for me. Even though I don't believe in God, it was welcome. It showed they care and, what the hell, it couldn't hurt. But when I say, for instance, that I'm pro-choice, and I get a condescending "I'll pray for you", then I'd like to rip his/her face off. It's the same as "bless his heart".

Why would someone being nice bother me?
