Basically, they are both collections of parables and legends designed by man to teach.

I look at it this way.

    I believe in God.
    I believe God made trees.
God didn't make just one tree, he made many; elms, maples, birches, oaks, etc.
Religions are similar. Its the same idea, "Praise God and try to live a good life," but each religion is different in its intricates because people are different. Its our differences that make us more interesting and relatable.
What pertains to a prodestant in Germany does not pertain to a Muslim in the Phillipines.
What pertains to a Buddahist in China does not pertain to a Jew in Israel.
What pertains to a Catholic in New York does not pertain to a Mormon in Utah.

Which is right? They all are.
Finding religion isn't finding the "right religion" its finding the right religion for you.

Religion is apart of our culture, our upbringing.
It molds the way many of us know right and wrong.
It constructs our traditions, the basis of our family gatherings.
    It what makes us unique.
Why would we all want to be the same?

Like those who want to take away religion.
Keep it out of the public.
    Keep your religion hidden.

    How can you ...

    coexist

without celebrating and learning the religions and traditions of each citizen?

How can taking religion away and silencing the teachings each religious citizen was raised with make a society free?
Does freedom mean silencing alternative view points?

Why not place religion on the money?
    Should ALL citizens be represented?
    Doesn't that mean the religious?

As a nominal Diest, I believe that many parts of the Bible are Divinely {typo edit} inspired, while others clearly are nothing more than a reflection of the time they were written.

The Koran was written by a murderous pedophile. That's the simple truth. Make what you will of Mohammed's book.

The innate nature of humans is to worship something bigger than themselves. I didn't say that a Grand Designer built this in to our psyche.

No other religion or ism deals with the issue of sin -- of justice -- that Biblical Christianity does. Other religions rely on the fractured works of fractured beings in order to attain atone for sin. But how can fallen beings atone for themselves? Why then would they need to seek salvation?

No other god like the God of the Bible. The fact that Muslims and Christians cannot comprehend or adequately explain the Trinity or the incarnation of the Christ, only demonstrates the chasmic difference between the creator and His creation. While other religions hold a humanized vision of their god, the Biblical view of Yaweh remains unique.

No Savior like the Christ! God incarnate. Living a human life for 30+ years, only to willingly be tortured and killed by the self-same souls He was sent to save. Self-resurrected to justify those who would be saved, in order to pave the way to eternal life. With one act, the Christ crushed Satan and conquered death.

Where are the miracles of Islam? Mohamed did none. Buddha? None. Christ? More than could be published.

What people call "The Bible" contains the truth of the spiritual side of this life. Through the generations much of it has been lost due to translations and the introduction of religious error in people's minds. Having been passed down through so many generations much of that error has become doctrine for all of Christianity. God's Word was at one time in history... before it was written down, was taught from the constellations of which the vast majority of it is lost today. It takes a lot (and I mean A LOT) of effort in studying the culture and time these books of the bible were written to get the intent of what is communicated to man today. One needs to come to an understanding of how numbers are utilized in scripture as well as figures of speech, understanding what group of people certain passages are addressed to, what administration is the context in and so much more. Most don't want to put that kind of diligent study into this. Which is why God may make His Word available to everyone but He only gives His Word to His people. IF they come to Him on His terms. I can believe all day I can show my love to my physical father by throwing rocks through his windows but do you really think any father would take that kind of action as a token of love? And yet that is pretty much ...

And yet that is pretty much how most Christians "worship" God. But... of course, I never said I worship the same God they worship.

The promise is... Those who hunger and thirst after righteousness (right living) shall (absolutely) be filled (satisfied). The reason this promise is put in this context is the desire for truth has to be as an appetite for that which nourishes you. Just like one meal won't sustain you for the rest of your life neither can one dose of truth. I can't speak for anyone else but as for me? I am and do get satisfied.

If you'd be interested in pursuing this further, you're welcome to my post on Perceptions

btw... I don't like being considered a "Christian" either as it has become a superstition today like all other man made forms of worship. The word christian was first used derogatorily in the first century anyways.

As a Muslim I believed that the Quran was the universal and eternal word from God and had no error or discrepancies – in fact the Quran makes this claim for itself. It declares that no part of it is at variance with another. Note for example what Surah or chapter 4:82 claims.

DO THEY NOT CONSIDER THE QURAN (WITH CARE)? HAD IT BEEN FROM OTHER THAN ALLAH THEY WOULD SURELY HAVE FOUND THEREIN MUCH DISCREPANCY.

This is the Book about which there is no doubt, a guidance for those conscious of their Creator.
Who believe in the unseen, establish prayer and spend out of what We have provided for them.
And who believe in what has been revealed to them and what was revealed before them, and of the Hereafter they are certain in faith.
Those are upon [right] guidance from their Lord, and it is those who are the successful.
    [2:2-5]

The Quran reflected none of these theories, describing the embryonic human development with detailed accuracy (which means): "We created man from a quintessence of clay, We then placed him as a drop (Nutfah) in a place of rest firmly fixed, then we made the drop into an ‘Alaqah (leech-like structure) and then we changed the leech-like structure into a Mudgh...

The Quran reflected none of these theories, describing the embryonic human development with detailed accuracy (which means): "We created man from a quintessence of clay, We then placed him as a drop (Nutfah) in a place of rest firmly fixed, then we made the drop into an ‘Alaqah (leech-like structure) and then we changed the leech-like structure into a Mudghah, (chewed-like substance) and then We made out of that chewed-like substance bones; then We clothed the bones with flesh; then We caused him to grow and come into being and attain the definitive form. Blessed be Allaah, The Perfect Creator. After that, at length you will die. Again, on the Day of Judgment, you will be raised up." [Quran 23:12-16]

    2.Cosmology:
The Quran says (what means): "Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and the earth were joined together as one united piece, then We parted them. And We have made from water every living thing. Will they not then believe?" [Quran 2: 30]
It is also mentioned in the Quran (what means): "Then, He rose over towards the heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth: 'Come willingly or unwillingly.' They both said: 'We come willingly.'" [Quran 41:11]

The word ‘smoke’ describes accurately the primeval state of the universe, which was composed of a hot gaseous mass, with particles moving vigorously like smoke. From this the stars, planets and the earth were formed. The Quran says (what means): "With power did We construct the heaven. Verily, We are Able to extend the vastness of space thereof." [Quran 51:47] It is an accepted fact that we are living in an expanding universe.

The Quran says (what means): "It is not for the Sun to overtake the Moon, nor does the night outstrip the day. They all float, each in an orbit." [Quran 36:40]
The Quran says (what means): "It is He who made the Sun a shining thing and the Moon as a light, and measured out their stages…" [Quran 10:5] The Quran describes the Sun as ‘Siraaj’ which means a torch, generating its own heat and light, whereas the Moon is described ‘An-Noor’ which is light originating from another source.

    3.Geology:
The Quran says (what means): "Have We not made the earth as a bed; and the mountains as pegs?" [Quran 78:6-7]
And also (what means): “And Allaah has cast into the ground, mountains standing firm so that it does not shake with you.” [Quran 31:10]

It has recently been discovered that mountains have roots that go into the earth's crust, which is composed of seven tectonic plates. Their movement is the cause of earthquakes. It is thought that the roots and weight of the mountains play a vital role in stabilizing the earth's crust.

    4.The Water Cycle:

The Quran correctly describes the water cycle, and the origin of underground springs as being from rainwater. Obvious you may think, but the Greek philosophers did not get it right, suggesting that underground springs were produced by sea spray collecting in caves, which fed a great underground sea through the 'abyss'! In fact, the water cycle was not accurately propounded until the 18th century CE. The Quran, however, states (what means): "Do you not see that Allaah sends down rain from the sky and makes it flow as springs (and rivers) in the earth?” [Quran 39:21]

These are a few of many statements and limited explanations of the statements contained in the Quran and traditions dealing with scientific subjects. The Quran is consistent with external realities, and it is also consistent internally. It is the nature of the works of men, be they scientists, philosophers, sages or mystics to contain inconsistencies and contradictions. This cannot be so with the Divine Revelation as the Quran states (what means): "Then do they not reflect upon the Quran? Had it been from other than Allaah, they would have found within it much contradiction." [Quran 4:82]

“And We have revealed to you, (O Muhammad), the book (i.e., the Qur’an) in truth, confirming that which preceded it of the Scripture and as a criterion over it. So judge between them by what Allah has revealed and do not follow their inclinations away from what has come to you of the truth.” [Al-Qur’an 5:48]
