If you didn't know, the YA trilogy is hitting the big screens.
The movie is set to come out in theater March 2012, as Katniss and fellow District 12 citizen, Petta, are setting up to battle in the extreme and dangerous arena of the Hunger Games.

But kinda questioning Leeny Kravics as Cinna.

I do know that they're going to tone down the violence in the movies, which is too bad. They might make it more sci-fi-ish, which I don't mind too much.
My biggest concern is that they're probably going to focus too much on the love triangle, which was one of my least favorite things about the book series, in order to appeal to teenage girls. I really didn't think there was a point to it and seeing how the whole "Team So-and-So" thing is big now thanks to Twilight, I'm worried that THAT'S going to be the main focus.
I seriously hope the movies are good though.
Sure they talk about Katniss and Gale , Katniss and Peeta. but not really. i was actually surprised when he kissed her.
That kiss surprised me, too. Gale is barely there in the first book and then in the second book we learn that he has a thing for Katniss? At the beginning no less? Besides, the way Katniss talks about him makes it seem like he's her big brother, not like a lover. But because of how successful Twilight is, they're probably going to play up the romance between Gale and Katniss.
I don't mind romance but enough with the sh*tty love triangles already. A good love triangle is one where both competing love interests have an equal chance of being chosen. In a book like The Hunger Games, SPOILER, it's obvious who the favored choice is.
- exactly why I was shocked.
In respects for the book, Katniss didnt seem all that interested in either of the boys. She cared about her family and their safety and her survival.
Even though the romance isn't focused on THAT much in the book, the readers get too caught up in it. They're frustrated that Katniss won't choose either boy when they don't realize that finding a lover is the least of Katniss's worries - I won't say who she chooses if you haven't read the last book, but I think it should be obvious.
What do you think about the cast? Love/hate?
I think the cast is great. They chose very talented actors. I can't wait to see Woody Harrelson as Haymitch. Woody rules! I just learned that Donald Sutherland will be playing Snow. Perfect! Most people I know had issues with the cast at first, starting from when Jennifer Lawrence was casted. But I thought it was a good choice from the begining because Lawrence played a similar role in Winter's Bone and she was nominated for an Oscar for that performance! Overall, I think this cast rocks!
What do you think?
Im not sure about Josh Hutherson as Petta tho. Im not 100% set on him. But overall the casting is awesome.
And yes same! She could possibly make him better. And he make her less stuck up.
And Cinna. I flove fim. But....i didnt not imagine him as Lenny Kravixs at all. I saw him as ......Jude Law or even Terrance Howard.
Exactly! I'm planning on writing about Haymitch and Effie. School's almost over so I'll have the time soon. Actually, it's going to be a crossover fanfiction (possibly fan comic, dunno yet) with them having a subplot. What would their couple name be? Hayffie? Effmitch? Dunno.
Kravitz certainly wasn't my first choice either, but he's a pretty good actor. I thought Cinna would be much younger. I was mainly thinking of Jonathan Sadowski.
And its not that he doesnt look the part, its his personality. In all the films ive seen him in, he generally plays the "bad boy" or the boy with the 'tude.
lmao. I think Hayffie sounds too much like heifer. Lol Effmich is ok, I feel like she would be the pants anyway.
And if you do decide to put it out there let me know! I want to read it, Ive never read a Hunger Game fic yet but there are some on ffnet that im getting around to.
Jeez. I know it's going to be a while, but I'm really psyched about the movie!
Well, Twilight did deserve the Razzie Awards at least. :)
