You know, I haven't seen it in years. So I don't have a current frame of reference.
But I recall it was a very evocative film, and very well-acted.

Despite the film being controversial, I liked it. I especially liked both Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep's performances in it. I liked also where the film was shot in Pennsylvania. I thought the film did deserved the Oscar for Best Picture. Jane Fonda may not like me saying that she called the film "a racist apology from the Pentagon." But Jane Fonda made a lot of naive statements when she was younger.

Fortunately, Jane Fonda grew up and got away from making naive statements. I really like her in "Klute," because I liked the way she portrayed someone in the sex trade as being troubled and try to find themselves. She won her first Oscar for that, and also it was art imitating life. For Jane Fonda was a troubled person trying to find herself, and she finally did.

I just thought it sucked. Watched a little bit for a second time after it came out on tape. It reaffirmed my original thoughts and I shut it off. Never been tempted to watch it again.
