The bible says kill non-believers the evil isn't islam.

Both religions are nuts, but this is where the bible says itThey should be killed. "If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers; Namely, of the gods of the people which are round about you ... Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him with stones, that he die."
NEW TITLE
BIBLICAL INTOLERANCE
I see so many religionists rant and rave about how Atheists are “not tolerant of believers and have no respect for their faith”. To non believers this claim is absurd. For intolerance of various religions is the foundation of Judaism, Christianity, Muslim and many other orthodox communities. Matter of fact, the Bible and Pentateuch commands religious intolerance in MANY verses, even to the point of KILLING people for their beliefs. Here then, are a few choice verses that show just how intolerant these religionists are of other believers and nonbelievers. We shall start with the two verses that helped to inflict one of the biggest mass murders in history, the Inquisition.

Woman with “familiar spirits” must be stoned to death. Leviticus 20:27

“Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.” Exodus 22:18

Kill those who are not Christian or Jewish:

You must kill those who worship another god. Exodus 22:20

Kill any friends or family that worship a god that is different than your own. Deuteronomy 13:6-10

Kill all the inhabitants of any city where you find people that worship differently than you. Deuteronomy 13:12-16

Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:2-7

Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy 17:12-13

Kill any false prophets. Deuteronomy 18:20

Any city that doesn’t receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah. Mark 6:11

Jude reminds us that God destroys those who don’t believe in him. Jude 5

Ignorance is bliss. Christians should not practice free inquiry nor socialize with non Christians:

Don’t associate with non-Christians. Don’t receive them into your house or even exchange greeting with them. 2 John 1:10

Shun those who disagree with your religious views. Romans 16:17

Paul, knowing that their faith would crumble if subjected to free and critical inquiry, tells his followers to avoid philosophy. Colossians 2:8

Judge other religions for not following Christ:

Whoever denies “that Jesus is the Christ” is a liar and an anti-Christ. 1 John 2:22

Christians are “of God;” everyone else is wicked. 1 John 5:19

The non-Christian is “a deceiver and an anti-Christ” 2 John 1:7

Anyone who doesn’t share Paul’s beliefs has “an evil heart.” Hebrews 3:12

False Jews are members of “the synagogue of Satan.” Revelations 2:9, 3:9

Wow, scriptural ignorance at its finest - you should try reading the Bible for yourself, asking God to give you wisdom and understanding which will lead to your being saved, giving you even more insight into what you clearly have no idea about.

The difference, of course, between Christians who read the Bible and Muslims.the Koran, is quite clear. Very few Christians who happen to read an obscure passage about 'killing' in the Bible will be influenced enough to go out and 'kill' somebody.Muslims, on the other hand....

You could worship Molech if you lived in Israel. You just had to immigrate to Moab. Israel was a Theocracy.

Do not think that I [Jesus] have come to abolish the Law (the Old Testament) or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke or a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law (the Old Testament) until everything is accomplished. (Matthew 5:17-18)

to say that OT are of the past in utter nonsense. Unless the statement above was altered by some Priests

These quotes are not from the Christian version of the bible which is the new testament. The old testament was the Hebrew bible which was not Christian. The Old Testament should only be used as a history of how the Christians evolved to a better people. Although when the Romans began to lose power in the early part of the first century, they moved to religion and then corrupted the Christian beliefs by returning to the persecution in the Hebrew bible. When those in power are corrupt they use any means to justify murdering anyone that will not pay them homage. You can read most of this in the new testament when the Romans and the Hebrews murdered Jesus and his Disciples.

Matthew 10:34 refers to those who believe will be set at odds with those who do not believe - a man against his father, a daughter against her mother ... the reference to a sword is the conflict that can be caused in a family, among friends, when one believes and the other does not.

Wow, looked back at the comments and their are a lot of hateful posts :) So much for forgiveness. It is true that some of these texts may have been taken out of context, but the christian religion has been taking their own words out of context for generations. Kings and Popes remove and add things to the bible as they wish and the book has become a large game of Telephone. I am sure with all the original text and documents the bible would be a whole new book!

Second on the Muslim Bashing in the comments. I have noticed lately the Christians have been at the Musilms throats for some reason. Most of whom are making judgements on a religion and belief they do not understand. They are also making assumptions that all the Muslims are the people we see on Fox News to scare us. Each religion has its crazy people. But when its Muslim its noticed more. Research before you judge. Ignorance is the true Evil

From what I've seen there has just been a lot of religious bashing, period.
I do think we all should read the Bible, the Quran, the Torah, the Bhagavad-Gita, so we can understand where each of us is coming from.

The old and new testement both contain commandments to kill and to love people who don't believe in christ or the one true god. As an atheist my biggest problem is when some one wants to take the bible literally (7000 year old earth, creationism, garden of eden with talkiung snake, noah's ark) but ignore inconsistancies, or places where the bible has been proven wrong (the earth is not flat. the sun does not move around the earth.)

If you bring up jesus saying

"But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them - bring them here and kill them in front of me."
    Luke 19:27

then its just a parable. when he says something more palatible it's a commandment.

if an infallible god gave us a book, it could have no errors or inconsistancies.
The bible is loaded with both, it cannot be of divine origins.
I'm told it was written by man, then it's still not divine.
I'm told it's written by men inspired by god. I can write a book inspired by unicorns, leprechans, or zues. That doesn't make them real.

If He is real, He's responsible for infant death syndrome, miscarraiges, and babies with cancer. To believe in Him seems crazy. To love Him seems sick.

Talk about taking scriptures out of context. Have you red any of the rest of the bible? You can't say god is love without saying god is hate. The book clearly has many scriptures proving both. I for one am against, murder, rape, slavery, child abuse, forced religion. That's why I no longer practice the faith, that's why I still read the bible, to stop the atrocities of Yahweh.

As many people you have taken Luke 19:27 out of context. This is a parable of a nobleman and his servants. This is not a quote about Jesus. To understand the Luke 19:27 you must read the whole parable starting at Luke 19:12 through 19:27

The earth being flat and the sun moving around the earth, that concept comes from man, not the Bible or any other book considered holy by any faith.

Kate you are wrong. The koran describes the world as flat. In fact it describes the universe as 7 flat layers that the sun moves around.

To quote those verses as proof that the Bible is evil is obnoxious. If anyone's going to talk about critical thinking, it should be we who to believe to you who post this.

    1. The punishment for not following God is death in both a spiritual and a physical sense.

    2. The reason Jesus came and died was so that we could be forgiven and thus not die.

It really is that simple. If one did not put their faith in God, they were doomed. Jesus came so that they'd have a chance. The law is difficult to follow. All of us can admit that. Jesus made it so that we could be forgiven when we did violate it.

Honestly, how can people go about making claims about things they really just don't understand? That point stands for any ideology. Just look at the Bible. The point of it is that God loved us so much that he became human and died at our hands as a perfect sacrifice.

Seriously now, don't go calling us evil if you don't understand our faith.

You claim goodness without understanding your faith.
    Women are inferior.
    1 Timothy 2:11-12
11 A woman[a] should learn in quietness and full submission. 12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man;[b] she must be quiet.

    Slavery
    1 Timothy 6:1-2
Christians who are slaves should give their masters full respect so that the name of God and his teaching will not be shamed. If your master is a Christian, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. You should work all the harder because you are helping another believer by your efforts. Teach these truths, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.

    Child abuse
    Mathew 15: 4-7
4 For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’[a] and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’[b] 5 But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6 they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7 You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you.

Old Testament law still in effect.

Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven."

Luke 16:17 "It is easier for heaven and earth to disappear than for the least stroke of a pen to drop out of the Law."

James 2:21-22 "Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did."

James 2:24 "You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

James 2:26 "As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."

So, if the old t is still in effect, that would include rape too. Nice morals there.
