Sure, but I'd have definitely preferred a Spider-Man 4 which they cancelled for no reason at all.

Sony Exec 2: "Things couldn't be better! Those movies just keep making more money for us, we've got a script, Sam Raimi, Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have all signed on to return and we just got John Malkovich to play the Vulture!"
Sony Exec 1: "F that! Fire the lot of them, get me the guy that did that romantic comedy everyone likes, a British Spider-Man and that Lindsay Lohan knockoff and let's re-do the first movie!"
Fans: "WTF?"
