Ted Kennedy's Senate Seat is not A Temporary Vacancy!!!! Please read, leave a comment, and share with your SodaHead's.

Old Timer "IN GOD WE TRUST" September 01, 2009 14:24:37

His seat is a permanent vacancy and should be filled by vote, not temporary appointment.
They changed the law several years ago to not allow a Republican to be temporarily appointed by the Governor. Now practically with his dying breath, Kennedy want's the law changed back so that the Governor can appoint a Dem into the seat. One more attempt at Dem HocusPocus to maintain 60 in the Senate. The law says the governor can't do it as it stands now. The people of Massachusetts need to get out and tell their state legislature that they want a VOTE in who the REPLACEMENT will be. They are already talking about another Kennedy.
You!

The fact is they have proven themselves shameless political whores by changing the law once to benefit themselves and will now be equally shameless in changing it back.

LET the Voters decide .. not the trail of insider deals and corruption --

AMERICA does NOT need 'rubber stamps' -- it does NOT need 'fingers of blame' ..

The voters should have the right to CHOOSE .. and that means that the people might have a chance of someone in office that may Actually READ the MESSES before they sign (or better yet -- DENY signing on the bottom line)!

The law is the law, and should be followed. As it stands, a special election will be needed, and the citizens of Mass. deserve a legal senator, even should they pick another Kennedy. Do any of the Kennedys nowadays, have the political moxie to do as much as the earlier Kennedys did? Of course, that's not my problem to decide, and it might not be what people are interested in when deciding for whom to vote.

As I understand it Ted Kennedy had the law changed several years ago so a Republican could not be appointed NOW they want to change it back so a Democrat can be appointed.

Exactly what is wrong letting the voters of that state choosing whom ever they see fit to fill the seat in November?

Well, I imagine ther ewa sa lot of wheeling and dealing behind closed doors before Kennedy died, and I bet a deal to name an appointee is in the works. The dems will leave nothing to chance and they do not trust the voters.

What's even better is that Kennedy had it changed to the way it is now to block the appointment of a Republican. He wanted to change his own law to allow for an appointment to his seat.

So what else is new, religion is off limits to Republicans and concervatives, and now this. Have any laws you want repealed (?), become a Crimocrat and get it done faster than you can say "lookey yonder!".

Our turn for repeals is coming in 2010, and we will have it, one way or the other. Crimocrats take your pick. Look around you. I would like this settled without ACORN, because it has come to the attantion of the Republicans, Indendipents, and the Blue Dog Democrats (Those few that haven't joined the Crimocrat party). Just shows you how stupid Crimocrats are. Going against the Constitution is treason, this is a criminal act, and Crimocrats are to dumb to realize that.

There is an old statute in this country that shows a sad fact. I say sad, because most times it is a bad thing, but in defence of the Constitution, it is not. That statute is, "If the law does not do it's job, the vigilanties will." So here it is, set before you members of Congress; "Choose between life and death, take your pick." That does not necessarily mean you "life", it means a political death from which you will not be able to overcome. But if you use Acorn, Well, it could become vigilanty, in that case, all bets are off.

The fact is that Teddy hasn't been able to function as a senator for much of the last year; so what is the dire emergency to get his seat filled now to give Mass. representation of two senators in the Senate. Nothing but the desperate need for that 60th Democrat vote for cloture. That is the politics of expediency, not a fair policy. Had Uncle Ted lived another year, that seat would not have been a voting seat.............not unless they could figure a way to wheel him drooling into the senate for votes like they did Strom Thurman. seat voting seat figure wheel drooling senate votes strom thurman seat voting seat figure wheel drooling senate votes strom thurman seat voting seat figure wheel drooling senate votes strom thurman seat voting seat figure wheel drooling senate votes strom thurman He had quite a history!

If I were the Governor and made a ruling and the people in the state legislature made a different ruling and told me I had to sign it into law, it might take me a few months to think about it.
I do not like the idea of a 60 vote Senate, as in my opinion it then becoms a 61 man Dictatorship.... something we do not want or need

They are still working the state legislature to have the Gov.Patrick to appoint someone, who will promise not to run in 2010, to serve until after the election.
That would give the Dems. 60 votes!
