way way way way better. Supernatural has kept me interested throughout the whole series whereas Vampire Diaries kept me for half a season.

that's a good question. i think it's up to how many people are watching and still loves the show, and the producers etc :p
Eric Kripke left the show. he IS of course the CREATOR but his supernatural ended almost 3 years ago, in season 5. he had written 5 seasons and he wanted it to end there. but it had many fans etc so it got a season 6 in which Kripke was there full time to tell the others "what to do". he even wrote season's 6 last episode, i think because it was all about Sam. i believe he liked season 6 even if it wasn't his "creation" you know. but for season 7 he was there only part time or something it wasn't so much his thing. i am an obsessed supernatural fan and i can know an Eric's Kripke episode if i see one. but season 7 had none... and because of that it wasn't so great like the others. i truly believe season 8 will be much better though. i hope we could get more of Kripke's work but Supernatural took him almost 10 years to develope and write, so i believe he wants something else now haha
ok i'll stop talking now cause i said too much :p it's because i love Supernatural :p

I'm only on the beginning of the 3rd season right now, but I like it so far :)
Could not even get past the first episode of Vampire Diaries. I like the books, but not the show.

I really like both, but I like Supernatural a little bit more. :)
