Ok this is so awesome -- German composer Michael Petermann spent the last 8 yeas turning a bunch of vintage appliances into a functional orchestra. To me it's totally music, but other people might disagree. Either way, it took a lot of hard work and techno-coordination!

Blödes Orchester [is] the ultimate intersection of design, technology, and the arts. Translated as “Stupid Orchestra” as a result of the “musicians” limited capabilities, the Blödes Orchester features classic household design appliances made between 1912 and 1975 as the players. Some notes in the symphony were played by the Braun Aromaster, a coal-fueled Miele washing machine from 1955, Braun Sixtant razors from three different decades, and Goertz’s Starmix mixers, all of which Petermann purchased at flea markets or on eBay.

    It has rhythm, structure, there are different pitches. It's actually pretty traditional in that sense. Love it :)

    Structually, it is music. That doesn't mean it is pleasant to listen to. How did this guy not go crazy while making this? But I give him props, this takes dedication and talent.

    I don't know if I would label it music, simply because it would depend solely on the musicians and their ablity to play their "instruments" On the other hand I don't see it as a monstrosity because it's a clever idea that- performed well- could be an amazing thing to listen to.

    Not quite music or monstoristy but actually a bit of performance art. I'm sure some rapper will turn it into music or monstoristy after a bit of production.

    They should be teaching people to think outside the box when it comes to art especially. I think it was very interesting, although it is not what I would choose as listening music, but I felt it! Thanks for sharing!

    Interesting. Innovative. Creative. Unique. Entertaining. But nothing I would chose to hear again. The crescendo went on just past the point of being annoying and unnerving.

    I had high hopes for it but they could have done more. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a monstrosity but it does not sound like music to me. But that's just my opinion. :)

    I'm no fan of rap but I could definitely feel the rhythm of the machines.
