    My guess is that they are both pretty young, and for some reason oblivious to that "natural enemy" concept! It's not unheard of, but unusual.

    During the daytime, I have seen crows, even sparrows attack owls. At night, during flight, they are completely silent, very effective killers. The cat probably wouldn't stand a chance.

    ..my cat has a skunk for a pet (and my kitty brings her skunk into the house every night, which is fine with me cuz she's a very nice skunk), so nothing surprises me...it's almost like those Pepe LePew cartoons, except the cat LIKES the skunk...

    ...well, not to the point that the skunk will sit on my lap, but lots of times, when I'm on the computer, I feel her walking across my feet as she tours the house...I can reach down and pet her, but I have never tried to pick her up. Skunks are really sweet, gentle, fun little animals, and they have even less odor than a cat unless they get upset (and they don't get upset very easily..)
