I don't think prayer alone will cure depression. However, I think faith in God and having a close relationship with Him is extremely helpful during the process. Prayer can bring the right people to you to help you overcome your depression as well.
How much of it go's down to the power of positive thinking . There are a lot of scientific study's that point towards and prove that positive energy as well as negative energy have a deffinat effect upon people . I would believe in this way before I would believe what comes out of the modern indoctrination system called religion
You'll become more depressed when your prayers aren't answered. Seek medical help, then claim God guided you there and gave you the strenghth to carry on. You have no inner will or control over yourself.
Jesus said Ask, knock, and seek. I'd say yes you can, but it may take a little while... but keep knocking, keep asking and keep seeking- and the door shall be opened unto you.
Prayer and meditation have been shown to significantly help depression & anxiety. This does not have anything to do with some supreme being though...pure science.
Of coiurse it takes faith...but any person will read the word...then apply it in their life..
all things are possible.... simple truth...but only for believers...those that have accept the Gift of Grace.... faith, hope and love.... God grace can meet all your needs...bark
LOL!
Wow... Yeah. I pray for rain and the gutters flood. I pray for snow to ski in powder and it snows in a different part of the country. Once I prayed for a smart president, but I got George W Bush.
Either god has a wicked sense of humor (look at giraffe, elephants, etc) or prayers are find for those who choose to believe.
Depression requires care and attention... is it medical, personal, environmental... is depression being treated? No, prayer does nothing for depression.
Those who have faith in God Almighty Jehovah, and pray to Him through His only-begotten son (Jesus Christ) will be helped by God's Holy Spirit - which is God's operating force, so to speak. Best of luck.
If you believe something strong enough anythings possible. However if you need meds it's not probable it will work.I'm waiting for an amputee to pray a limb back on.
..pray away depression?..hmm..maybe....but hey, there are idiots out there that think you can pray GAY away, and there are lots of con artists who will accomodate that delusion (think bachmann...)
I am a Christian and I am a manic depresint. The Lord has helped me so much with mine it is un real however it still comes and go's but the Lord has made it better and he is still working in me so who knows what the futer brings.Blessings my friend.
I have to disagree. I was planning on committing suicide when I finally decided that I needed serious help, and I knew that God was the only one who would always be there for me. In 2010, I gave my life to Christ, joined a wonderful church that I consider family, and have turned my life around. Depression is a mental illness that never completely goes away; I still have days where just getting out of bed to face the day seems like too much, but through faith I know that I am here for a reason, and that I am strong enough to get through anything. So, in a way, I guess you can't completely pray depression away, but God can work miracles.
Also, this is completely irrelevant, but did anyone else find it a bit odd that the question was about praying and two of the answer choices featured half naked girls?
Well, no, maybe.Praying is often a waste of time since nobody's listening, but it could help you feel better If you actually think you're talking with someone.

God has set the playing field of life we must learn the game.
