Where to start? I found several of my favorites browsing thru the responses, and have a few that I would like to add:
Okay, Didn't think I would care for this one, but my son suggested it. And as we have similar reading likes in reading material I took his advise and enjoyed this immensely.
One of our sodahead people has a few books on the market for conservative readers! Robert T. Uda; Barack Obama .the Fundamental Transformation of America .And Average American has a new book coming out in late July or Aug.; Average American Politics Mr. Uda's book is a great read!
Some really great history here. It was one of the books that made me feel I needed to face up to fighting in Viet Nan . If my father could live through this horror, I could honor his sacrafice.
Interestingly enough -- I am going to submit the following ...
(Serious choices) --
George Orwell (1984)
Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451)
HG Wells (The Time Machine)
Now here is another suggestion -- one that will seem a bit .. different .. but in a lot of ways, this Fiction Writer (Fantasy) is someone who has also been diagnosed with Alzheimer's at this time too.
I am talking about an Author that has a series of works -- but the Series to focus on is the Discworld Series (by Terry Pratchett). I so enjoy the HUMOR and Wit behind all his works .. but the Discworld Series .. is what is to read. There is a lot of what he is observing around the world .. everything from Monetary Policy to Politics, police work, international relations, university life, observations on life, death, and just everyday life (including Hollywood too!) that is a light-hearted (and hilarious read) ..
BUT .. later .. as you think about the words/humor .. it just HITS you -- that this HUMOR is a way that he has to make you THINK about the ramifications of the 'observation' and actions that we see were taken (by politicians, celebs, etc) during the day's news recaps .. and how about THINKING about how this affects others and the world around us too.

I'm right now re-reading "Unseen Academicals" .. it is also hilarious and a good read.
I red all three books you mentioned. They're G R E A T !!! I would make a few books O P T I O N A L in schools. Way more than kids have to read now in Canada and the US. I came from an European country to Canada and the teaching system and expectation level is much more higher, than over here. Don't want to go in details. Anyway, I would suggest a few more classical too, like Balzac, Capote, Cervantes, Cicero, Dickens, Dumas, France, Gogol, Gorkij, Hugo, Huxley, Ibsen, Joyce, ... etc ... There are lots of great books out and kids have no idea, didn't even heard the names of the writers. The same with the classical music ... (no details) but they know about abuse, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, fashion, guns, mobilphone ... etc Anyway, I and my 13 YO daughter love to read and you too.
YES! I Read all of those way, way back when (sigh -- decades ago BEFORE Schools got all /politically correct/ and pushed /affirmative action/ down our throats.
We did NO FAVORS to our youth by taking all these GREATS out of the schools .. we also did NO FAVORS either by lowering standards too (which means -- Affirmative Action -- Special Attention due to Specific "boxes" that you fit -- is INHERENTLY UNEQUAL -- INHERENTLY Prejudiced -- we needed to just INSIST on PERFORMANCE over UNEQUAL treatment (which lowered the bar for everyone)).
I SO Love Classical Music .. I have tons of CDs of the Greats .. and that is what I played in my home for my own children to listen to. I also made sure that they were introduced to all the classics of literature (hey, not everything went over well .. but at least they read amongst a wider base than their classmates).

Waiting for more! 5
I just finished reading The Scrolls of Damascus for the fourth time -- I love it! It's well-written, the characters are well-defined, and the story unfolds with enthusiasm and intrigue. The editing leaves something to be desired, which is a tad distracting, but it's a great first novel. I look forward to whatever C. Timothy Fowler, II comes up with next -- and I hope he continues with Rose and Richie, Erwin, Coe and Carol!
READ IT WITH YOUR LIGHTS ON! 5
Loved the book. Twists and turns coming from a real pro. Very close to home and terrifying. LOVE the writers mind. GREAT story telling. Enthralling characters. Looking forward to what's coming next.

All books have something to offer. The smart thing to do is read between the lines and learn, rather than taking it literally and devoting your life to following whatever it says at face value, without questioning it.
Lots of people say the same thing about the Christian Bible, yet I have read both and have learned something from each. It doesn't mean I'm a Christian or a Satanist, I just like to read something before I pass judgement.
My guess is you think Satanists worship Satan, which a very common misconception and I doubt you actually know anything about Satanism beyond the name which most likely frightens you as a Christian, because you don't understand it.
"Satanism, the first carnal religion in human history, was codified and established by Anton Szandor LaVey (1930-1997) with the founding of the Church of Satan in 1966 C.E. (Year One). It is a religion and a philosophy based on man as he really is: a carnal being free from the fiction that is spirituality and one who champions total responsibility, pragmatism, and the here-and-now.
Satanism has been referred to as an "unreligion" in the sense that it does not subscribe to the notion of an anthropomorphic deity and, by extension, some being who must be worshiped, its most common misconception. Others say that Satanism is challenging popular notions of how 'religion' is defined, not content with the dictates of Judeo-Christian strictures. Both are valid opinions. But for those who feel that deity worship and religion must be and always...

But for those who feel that deity worship and religion must be and always have been inextricably bound, it should be noted that Satanism's lack of deity belief and deity worship is not singular as Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism (all considered religions the world over) also share this viewpoint. Also, the concept of a literal "Satan" which infiltrates people's lives and influences their decisionmaking is exclusively Christian, and decidedly not Satanic."
