I suggest blocked polls be removed from the hot list.

I think this would be a great idea. If these blockers don't want opinions, don't give them any.
You!

You think SH will ever do anything to reduce blocking and improve quality on the hot list? It sure would be nice.

I agree that skewed polls because all of a particular group are blocked should not make hotlist status. For one it's in SH's best interest not to promote skewed threads. Top polls are the ones everyone sees who could be members. If they see that SH puts top attention to skewed polls, then they will lose a lot of possible members who can see it clearly. It doesn't take much to observe that a particular discussion is skewed to one side because most all of the remarks are from that same side of an issue. Having open discussion where most people can comment is much more valuable and fair. Also much more interesting.

The average cons to libs ratio i've seen on sh is about 3 to 1. okay? but look at the lightning reports and demographics and you find polls like this one:

(it doesn't paste well but anyone can see that the con/lib ratio is absurdly biased)
Here you can see that there are a whole THREE liberal votes, vs 93 con cotes. That's more than 30:1. It's bs, and there are lots of them. this is nothing but propaganda and it's on the hot list. these are not OUR opinions. These are only rw opinions. it's not right.
the vote total is 182 to 15.
not even close to reality. not even close to "public opinion" It's garbage.

So your conclusion is that it's because you all are blocked from these polls? I think Fef just had clues for how to get your polls on the list. I really don't care about it. Do you get trinkets for being on top?

forget it. i was a fool for thinking a RWer would give a shlt unless it was a left wing blocker poll. just forget it.

to anyone with an ounce of decency and integrity please support this initiative to bring honesty to SH polls. thank you. (I'm on the hot list all the time btw. it's not about that, it's about free speech and REAL public opinion)

    Hey Gracie,

It's not about trinkets. It's about the ability to attract new members to the site. The top polls are the ones used to do that. The first thing anyone sees when looking at the site, especially if you don't have an account yet. So I can see value in making sure the discussions aren't skewed to one side of an issue (many do this by blocking everyone that doesn't agree with them on a particular issue). It's not hard to see that a site allows this if they promote these types of threads to the top often. As you know, this is an opinion site, and discussion is the bread and butter. If it's all skewed one way or another it's not nearly as valuable or interesting, not to mention people get frustrated not seeing an array of opinions on a particular topic. For instance, seeing a top poll where there is nothing but liberals bashing conservatives, and for some reason there is no other responses, it's obvious it's a landslide one way and not a equal conversation. Hey, if someone wants to block all conservative, fine, but why should those polls make the top status? This site should not allow that to the top, in my opinion.
