Ms. Warren is going by word of mouth family history passed down to her by her mother. I don't think that's uncommon especially for Native American ancestry due to the taboos of the time. I suppose she could take a DNA test to see if she has any indicators of Native American ancestry. She has addressed the issue, she was never given any consideration for her Native American ancestry and this has been blown way out of proportion. I'm more concerned that her opponent, Scott Brown, voted against the equal pay for equal work which would have helped many women be paid fairly. That was key to my backing of Elizabeth Warren.
I don't believe she lied. She relied on what her mother had told her. Maybe there were no records of what happened and who married whom because it was a "mixed" marriage. I don't know. But I don't believe Elizabeth Warren lied. She told the truth as it was told to her by her mother and grandmother.
I have no idea (and really don't care) what she has or hasn't said. But Native Americans haven't always been well documented and Pat is right that a lot of mixed blood people (Native Americans/Black/etc) have claimed that they were white on documents (even if they didn't look white) because having the documents saying there were white would help anytime they needed work with the documents.
Again... I have no idea if she's telling the truth or totally lying, but it can be hard to prove unless you can trace all their blood lines.
A lot of stuff about the Native Americans hasn't been recorded, as the Natives didn't record things in writing and the white man didn't care a lot of Native American blood has intermixed with non-Native American and never has been official recorded other than by listing the other race. If white was one of the races then that one was listed because other races were looked down on.
I see you got off subject. And I don't really care about playing stupid political game (which clearly you do) so I'm gonna stop replying after this post.
I'm not talking about her... I'm talking in general...
And just because a tribe doesn't claim someone doesn't mean they don't have Native American blood in them (again not talking about her, but in general).

Native American ancestries are some of the most carefully documented genealogies in the world.
She lied to get ahead and she got caught.
She told a lie. She knew it was crap.
Again... I have no idea if she's telling the truth or totally lying, but it can be hard to prove unless you can trace all their blood lines.
Warren is a liar.
I bet you don't even think that statement is racist.
