I understand the reason that Soda Head gives us raves to use on here...they can be used as a way to gauge your opinion against the others that post on here or as a way to express your approval of others that post. There are many reasons to rave somebody on here that make perfect sence.
I don't understand the point of rave parties! You can't use them as money or a means of bartering...you can't trade them in for prizes and you damn sure can't eat them. If you think that raves are sum of your being...you need to get outside a little more! I have even went to a rave party a while back...I still don't know why or what the point of it was.
If you have a rave party because you accumulated a certain number of raves...and you get more raves because of the party...doesn't that diminish the reason we give raves in the first place?
If you have a rave party just to BS with friends...well...isn't that kinda why we come here in the first place?
I don't rave everything that my top SodaHeads post on here and I don't expect nor do I want raves just because you know me either.
So why have "rave parties"?

I've noticed some people have raves numbering in the tens of thousands ... and that strikes me as very misleading. Could these people be so correctly "in the know" that their every utterance is rave worthy? If so, why aren't they wasting their time here?
If people are raving one another simply for playing on the same team, it lessens the purpose of the rave. That said, i do stand guilty of using it, myself, particularly when someone has responded to a blog or question in a manner that, imho, says it all.
I would much rather someone reply to a post, rationally stating their reasons for agreeing or disagreeing with it rather than 'rave' it. Too much potentially meaningful dialogue and debate is lost with the rave process.
It does strike me that more and more Texans are becoming involved and outspoken on these boards on the conservative side of matters.
And have ya'll noticed how many folks are moving in from other States? That's worrisome to me; i don't want it getting crowded here in east Texas.
