Smoking is stupid, I quit many years ago but I know for a fact I would be in even better health now had I done it sooner.

When you smoke, you never know if you will be one of the unfortunates who end up with COPD, lung cancer, mouth cancer, larynx cancer, esophageal cancer, etc. Why are you sorry? I think it was one of the best choices I ever made in life.

BTW, some of my friends who never quit are now paying the price as they get older, you have no way of knowing if you will be one of those or not, it is not a good gamble to take.

I smoked for well over thirty years. So you are not telling me anything I don't already know. I spend more days now sicker than a dog, and never did when I was smoking.

I have had a much different experience from you.

I get sick less, I used to get bronchitis every year when I smoked, and pneumonia a couple of times too, and colds all the time.

Even if you don't get one of the really bad diseases like emphysema or lung cancer, COPD is a very common end result of years of smoking, and I really want to keep on breathing.

I love that I can run up a flight of stairs and not be out of breath. I love breathing, and smelling and tasting (really smelling and tasting). I love being able to work out and have plenty of stamina.

Smoking was bondage, and I am SO glad to be free of those chains.

30 years of smoking is a long time, you may or may not get through that without permanent damage.

My friends Mother quit after 30 years, 2 years later she was diagnosed with emphysema.

I will never get the image out of my mind of a friend of mine's Mother (she was one of the reasons I quit smoking). I can still clearly see her sitting there with emphysema hooked up to her oxygen, and smoking (which is a very stupid thing to do). She was so addicted she could not stop no matter what. Smoking is BONDAGE and very bad for your health.

BTW, she died a couple of months later.

I have a really simple reason: Tobacco smoke makes me sick. Whether to the tobacco itself, or all the crap they add to it to make it more addictive, smoking or even being around second hand smoke gives me a headache at the least and stuff up sinuses. I've even developed bronchitis and pneumonia from the effects, when forced to be around it for any length of time.

Did you know 85% of the people who quit smoking at some point become allergic to the cigarette smoke? Maybe it is your body's defense to keep that crap out of it. I am really allergic to it now though I used to smoke, makes my eyes water, throat swell up, headache, etc.

I never smoked, but my father did the whole time growing up. He used to wonder why I was carsick. Today, just being in a car with a smoker is enough to make me want to hurl!

You would never know I used to smoke unless I told you, I really hate being around it at all now.
