In 2001 President George W Bush signed into law the USA PATRIOT act. This bill provides for warrant less wire taps, indefinite detention of immigrants, non permissible searches, and gives the FBI permission to search email, phone records, and financial records without a court order.

In 2011 President Barack Obama signed not only the extension of PATRIOTS 3 most grievous petitions(Roving wire taps, Searching business records, and the surveillance of "Lone Wolves") He furthered the injustice to the American people by signing the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012, commonly called the NDAA. This act provides for the indefinite detention of American citizens suspected of terrorism WITHOUT TRIAL!

While the president did provide a signing statement stating his office would not authorize the detainment of Americans without due process, this is not enough. We want these provisions, and the entire PATRIOT act removed. It is only by standing together that we can show our government that we are not serfs, or chess pieces, but citizens!

The time of citizen petitions is over. I have signed thousands of them and they have not influenced one vote! The time for patriots action has become necessary!

I think that getting out of the trillion dollar war business would help this country also.

The "patriot act" is anything but patriotic. Bush and Obama should be vacationing in Leavenworth, Kansas for this.

Unfortunately the NDAA is now LAW, and 30,000 drone aircraft have been authorized by Obama to spy on us from above in this once "free country".
Once they start taking "our liberty" away they don't stop.

There is only one answer besides a petition or a revolution to stop it.

There is a reason we have a 2nd Amendment and even if the Gov decides to do something that might block it, the sentiment and reasoning behind that will always remain. Diplomacy can come at 3500 fps if necessary and GW and TJ were both all to aware of the potential necessity to make it so.

Grace to you, Glory to God!

Don't get me wrong, I agree with your sentiment. In times gone by a petition may have had some influence. The House and the Senate and the POTUS don't write and enact Martial Law and then care about petitions. They need to be removed from office and their replacements have to repeal everything they did. Unfortunately, they have legislatively created martial law and can stay in office indefinitely. An October surprise will see to that.

The President's signing statement will not have any binding effect on future

Administrations, and seems to me to violate the separation of powers concept by providing

a way for the Executive branch to "skirt" the Judaical, the effect being a neutering of

Habeas Corpus, another violation of constitutional law. (?) (I am not an attorney)
