No one likes gum on the sidewalk. Well, no one except Ben Wilson, anyway. Because instead of accidentally stepping on the sticky stuff on the streets, Britain's well-known "outsider artist" does something much different than the rest of us: he makes art.

When discovering gum on the street, Wilson starts painting small pictures on the tiny blobs and eventually transforms the urban ick into small little pieces of art. Are you into the unique form of art? Or do you think it's super weird (and kind of gross)?

The artist Ben Wilson has a peculiar passion: he paints pictures on flattened blobs of chewing gum on London’s sidewalks.

First of all gum must be already chewed, so disgusting. If you think this is Artistic just wait until you step on all this gum. It might start at one site ending up on every sidewalk anywhere. Fine if liking artistic bottom of shoes.

Also not too smart. If on a road vehicle tires will ruin this so called art very fast. Soon people will find gum all over sidewalks.

Gum is disgusting, its basically someone's spit wrapped up in a long lasting goop.

Remove it and paint on the wall instead...don't give people any excuse to put gum anywhere but in the bin.

I agree! This could start a whole new trend of sticking used gum on people's cars, store windows, sneaking it on store clothing. Before throwing away gum it should even be wrapped in a piece of paper first.

I'm an artist, have had many private art showings, won many awards for my oil paintings done on canvases. I doubt you will find many art judges giving trophies for this mess. I guess if you want to call this art, art does come in many forms.

I love Picasso's work. My favorite is Dora Maar au Chat.

This whole thing about gum not being able to be art makes me want to be a gum artist just to prove it to those who think other wise, that and I have been craving spearmint.
