- Car1u5 2012/11/17 16:29:16otherI think once they are over the age of 65 or so they should have to rake a driving test every couple of years.reply
- Just me ∞ijm♥G☮F♀U∞ 2012/11/17 13:40:46No, its their rightNo...I have a 98 yr old patient who still drives and she drives a brand new mustang. Every time she comes in to be seen, I watch for her to come driving into the parking lot from my office window. Quite honestly, she is a far better driver than most people out there.reply
- Max7 2012/11/17 11:30:53otherSeniors are just like teenagers, young adults and other careless drivers, some people just shouldn't drive regardless to how old they are. On the other hand I do feel that when a seniors eyes and flexibility is failing, it's pretty much time to stop driving. I've seen a lot of accidents and they all haven't been seniors, and since cell phones have become so popular it's worse, not to mention that sense of urgency that most drivers seem to have now. Rush, rush, rush, and when you get to the red light, you're all there together.reply
- Kaycee Mosely 2012/10/25 21:05:15otherOnly if they're able to.reply
- Riley 2012/10/23 22:59:09other+1I think at a certain age they should have to retake the tests to renew their liscense.reply
- Robyn Stark 2012/10/23 18:56:10Yes, they cause alot of accidents+2yearly physicals for drivers over 70reply
- Jesse 2012/10/23 16:16:05No, its their right+1Only if they become incapablereply
- aliycat 2012/10/23 09:54:39other+1Not an age limit but their liscine should be revoked should they become incapable of driving.reply
- NYCbrit 2012/10/23 08:35:59other+1But there should probably be retesting, w/increasing frequency after a certain age.reply
- fruitpunchninja 2012/10/23 08:24:54Yes, they cause alot of accidents+1they can as long as they get check ups at the their local gp like every 2 years to see whether their physically capable.reply
- Kitty 2012/10/23 08:23:07No, its their right+1They don't cause any more accidents than any other group of drivers. If they can still pass their tests, have good eyesight and good reflexes and all their marbles, no reason they can't drive.reply
- Keith 2012/09/17 13:47:40No, its their right+1Unless their condition deteriorates to the point where they can't drive safely. My father took himself off the road because he knew he wasn't safe.reply
- john 2012/09/16 20:39:59other+1age does not come into it, but capability does ....one person at 70 might not be a safe driver and another man at 80 could be perfectly safe and so because of this reasoning age does not come into it....reply

- kitkat42 2012/09/08 21:01:50other+1Everyone is different. I do think there should be mandatory drivers tests every year after 65. So many things change, eyesight, reflexes, etc.reply
- john kitkat42 2012/09/16 20:43:55
+1and so when you reach 65 and realize your as safe a driver as you have always been, will you change your mind then, most pensioners, would not be able to afford a test each year and so who would pay for this.....reply - kfallslady john 2012/09/17 03:12:11
+1so i agree but what age do they need to start checking sooner? my mom drove till 85, a little scarie but her husband was worthless at 78.reply - john kfallslady 2012/09/17 08:40:15
+2very difficult to say what age, as everyone is different, i don't know how many accidents an old person causes compaired to other ages, that would be interesting..but all my friends who are retired still drive and like me, never have accidents....reply - kitkat42 john 2012/09/17 05:46:14
+1Some stubborn people think they're as good as they always have been, but are fooling themselves. We have plenty of 'snow birds' here that prove the point all winter. I AM over 65 and I took myself off the road for those very reasons I mentioned. It would kill me if I was responsible for harming someone else because I was too stubborn to admit my weaknesses.reply - john kitkat42 2012/09/17 08:45:32
+1proberly agree that there are people driving out there who are a danger to themselves and others, but that goes for all age groups, i believe i am better than i was, as now i think of others and drive with more consideration...you must have had a medical reason for taking yourself off the road and you should be praised for doing so, but everyone over 65 is not the samereply - AvK 2012/09/08 19:54:56No, its their right+2If you're 85 and you can drive just fine then why should you have your license revoked?reply
- Jdogg 2012/09/08 17:51:42 (edited)other+2I think when they get to a certain age about 75, it should be required they also have to take a driving test.reply
- john Jdogg 2012/09/16 20:47:47
+1what about teenagers who cause lots of accidents each year, would you say that they need to take another test...most older people i know stop driving when they feel it is unsafe for them and that should be good enough....reply - Jdogg john 2012/09/17 03:56:36
+2If a teenager causes any kind of wreck should have to take another test to get their license back, The complete test, reply - john Jdogg 2012/09/17 08:50:34
+1i don't think the system would take all these driving tests, in england the waiting time is months already...in most cases they are "accidents" and therefore not always the fault of the driver, we all have lapses in consentration and these are what cause most accidents....reply - Robin 2012/09/08 15:30:07No, its their right+1Not a limit per say, as in specific age TO drive, but after a certain period, then perhaps they may need to re-evaluate an individuals ability to operate a vehicile. So as not to miss someone, etc... they may consider enacting an age when you need to report to DMV for an assessment similiar to the initial issuance.Driving is independence so good luck taking that from someone willingly.reply
- Cierra 2012/09/02 17:43:26other+2IF they're capable of driving smartly at whatever age, then I'm cool with it. But as soon as they start showing signs that they can't handle the road anymore, time to find them a personal driver or something.reply
- jabbo81 2012/09/02 11:32:38Yes, they cause alot of accidents+2I hate it when Im really in a hurry and I get behind a 90 year old man or woman going 20 under the speed limit. If I were a cop I would concentrate fully on writing old people tickets.reply
- disclaimer 2012/09/01 22:54:55Yes, they cause alot of accidents+1There's an age limit for teenagers to drive. It shouldn't be "you can't drive if you're __ years old," but once you pass a certain age you should have to take a test every year to make sure your visual acuity and reflexes are still good enough.reply
- Zippcodey 2012/09/01 21:23:55 (edited)No, its their right+1There is no better answer on age limit for all senior Americans. Some seniors are good drivers and the bad ones too at the same ages for instance. It takes more than age issue to decide if the person is in any good condition to drive or not. I have seen the families talk to their seniors in their families and discuss whether need to have them drive, out of their concerns and sometimes to make the decisions on this private issue, rather than having the government intruding in their senior's private lives and their right.reply

- john Nekosar... 2012/09/02 08:06:59
everyone should drive safely and with due care and attention, but the question is about age and you cannot say with all honesty what is the age when people should not drive, it depends on the person, but thanks for your input....reply - Nekosar... john 2012/09/02 10:14:33
+1Yeh, and you probably only disagree because of your age I suppose. It's nice to have another view. So it should depend on medical records within recent time...reply - john Nekosar... 2012/09/02 14:36:51 (edited)
+1because of my age.......i have the experience to understand both ends of the age scale....reply - sky blue pink - American 2012/09/01 12:13:19No, its their right+2My grandmother quit driving on her own, for the safety of others.reply
