    It is obvious that some folks have just oo much time on their hands! Who has money for a project that will only increase output by 20% and cost billions. Plus, the "award winning" design looks like a bunch of spider webs. What a mess.

    Any structural problems should be repaired, but it would be a waste of money to rebuild the whole thing merely for the appearance. I'm pretty sure all of the homeless and hungry Americans aren't concerned with whether or not they starve to death in a world with prettier architecture. A heck of a lot of people could be sheltered and fed with the enormous amount of money it would take for an artsy new dam!

    no but not because it's an icon but because it would be a waste of tax payer money for minimal improvement (if any improvement) the second picture is a interesting work of art but that's not enough reason to build it

    frankly how would this improve it? and how much would it cost?

    maybe in a few years if the economy is doing better then sure what ever but right now as a country we are strapped for cash and this seems like a big waste of money to me

    That makes sense but the quicker it's done the quicker it's over , but I understand your point. I didn't look at this from that perspective.I'm pretty sure it's going to cost alot wich means tax will be going up , but the improvement part is that "what if the bridge collapses in a years time and ppl are crossing it" then it must be done anyway wether te ppl and\or economy can afford it or not , then the cost will be more than money lifes could be at stake aswell! it's just my opinion! anyway

    proper maintainence would ensure that if it were to collapse then we would know ahead of time and take appropriator steps and even if it is collapsing and needs to be rebuilt it does not need to be that wasteful monstrosity

    dont fix what isnt broken and why do we have to make a dam look so freakin fancy? we have no money as a country but hey lets rip down the perfectly functional hoover dam and drop a few billion on a new dam that is flashy and up to date with our modern society.
