I wouldn't care if it disappeared today. I don't even know how it works. I automatically ignore any friend requests I get because "i saw you on the leaderboard..."
I don't even know where that is.

The reason they claim is it helped the SH newcomers learn the SH system (which is true to a degree... but if it was the main reason I think they would of stopped after level 5 or 10)... the other reason is it makes people want to compete which adds gets people to use SH more (which is another one of every sites goals).

I think it has turned more people off SH than gotten them excited about SH. A lot of good SH people have left some citing the SH changes and the whole leaderboard system as just being annoying.

That's my guess of the real reason they put it in. They have claimed it help new comers learn SH though, by learning to get points in different ways (though if that was the real reason they would be explaining stuff to new comers and it'd go up to level 5 or 10 at most... and then go away... so I'm not believing that's the real reason)

I really don't care either way. I know a lot of members seem really unhappy with it being here, so maybe they should just rid the site of it. But then if activity has spiked a ton since implementing it, it would be activity suicide to get rid of it.
