Should smoking be outlawed in all apartments and condos to avoid second-hand exposure to neighbors?

You pay the rent, you should be able to smoke cigarettes.

The smoking hysteria has gotten completely out of hand. Some guy on TV has a cigarette, and his legs fall off. It's insane. 80% have quit, and nothings improved. I smoked Camels heavily for 43 yrs, then quit a few yrs ago, and don't feel a bit better.

I am not sure that second hand smoke comes though walls of an apartment. We had this problem once. Our neighbor kept complaining of us smoking, except we don't smoke...what she smelled was lit candles...lol. She moved.

I feel your pain. I live in a private residence and once had a neighbor, two houses and twenty yards away, who would constantly knock on our door to complain that she was tired of smelling our cigarette smoke. She even had the temerity to call the police on us at one point. The policemen just laughed at her. The funny thing about it was that my wife (at the time) and I together smoked less than a pack a day between the two of us. Some MF's are always trying to ice skate uphill.

Wow, 2 houses away and they pinned it on you..THat is some nose they had. Did they move? or are they still complaining?

Yeah, she definitely wasn't very tightly-wound. Fortunately, she moved a about a year later. After she moved out and some really nice people moved in. The new people told us that before they could move in, they had to completely clean the house because the whole place reeked of cat urine. Go figure.

I had two smokers below me. One smoked a cigar and the other smoked cigs.
My wife and I complained but there was nothing that could be done about our
clothing and carpet smelling like rotten smoke. Our only choice was to find a
    new place to live.

I like the idea of putting smokers on the top floor. Another idea might be smoke
free buildings in a complex. I would gladly pay more for a smoke free building.

I have moved 5 times in 7 years. The good news is that I like moving.
Only once because of rotten old smoke coming up through the cracks.
I guess in a way it was maybe a good thing because we moved to a
better apartment complex. I feel bad for a non-smoking family that
gets stuck above a couple of nasty smokers. It's much harder for a family
to move their children away from that nastiness

I had to move out of the country for a year. That was a great year.
Apartments make it easy to move around and check out different
areas in the city. I love my current apartment. It's in a great location.
I expect to be here 2 years.

It's not that hard for them to walk downstairs, step outside and smoke outdoors.
Maybe make a special smoking section that is an open area?

And then we need to ban all smoking in private residences... And we long ass prison sentences for people who keep killing themselves... Maybe even a death penalty
We can't allow this to go on any longer... Save someone from second hand smoke... Save yourself... From bad men and women who lead "stressful" lives
