Chuck Norris can already hold the weight of a hundred sturdy men on his back without breaking a sweat, but soon he might be able to do it in two places at once. The Slovakian town of Bratislava is voting on the name of a new cycle bridge, which will run over the Morava river to connect the town with Schlosshof, Austria across the way. And "Chuck Norris" is winning by a landslide.

According to The New York Post, the heroic name had more than a thousand votes within a day of opening the poll, beating the runner-up -- Mother Theresa -- by nearly 900. But the vote will keep going until April, so there's plenty of time for the Saint to catch up. You know what they say... Slow and steady wins the race. They also say Chuck Norris can win any battle with a roundhouse kick to the face, so... Heads up, Mother Theresa.

its sad..i am from slovakia it looks like we haven't piece of national pride... i hope that competent people will be more clever and call it the bridge of Maria Theresa, of Iron Curtain or of Freedom.. other countries can laught at us for Chuck

I think if that want to let them. I knew Chuck Norris long before he was made famous in Hollywood. Back when he was a Black Belt in the Martial Arts, I met him up in Joliet Illinois back in the early 70's.I was a young Brown Belt and I had the honor of met him along with Sho-Dan James A Chapman and Bill Wallace. Mr. Norris and I talked for a little while and He was a very respected man in the Martial Arts and gave me some very excellent advice. Chuck Norse may have used stunt doubles now and in his show time career but back then when he climb into the ring it was the true Chuck Norris and he was good and something to see. He was young and sometimes would act like a little kid but the young man could kick some major ass!

Chuck Norris? Give me a break. So he's strong. So what. Doesn't mean he deserves a bridge named after him. Maybe this is his consolation prize for never being nominated for an acting award, because he can't act his way out of a paper bag.

For some strange reason, people give way to much credit to Chuck Norris, for far too much. You would think they could think of someone more worthy, and perhaps even honor someone from their own country.

Oh well, to each their own.

Mother Theresa (the second choice so far) isn't Slovakian either -- she's Albanian-Macedonian (or at least, she was an ethnic Albanian, born in Skopje -- she died an Indian citizen.)

Personally, I think Mother Theresa would be a more worthy person to honour, but as http://www.sodahead.com/fun/s... said, whatever the Slovakians decide democratically is their own business...
