A women attempts to unsuccessfully ride an escalator in a motorized scooter.

HAHAJK.COM reports:
Someone didn't get the memo. It seems pretty obvious that escalators and motorized wheelchairs weren't made for each other. A Boston woman found this out the hard way when she tried to leave an MBTA subway stop by taking the escalator instead of the elevator. Now we know how she ended up in the wheelchair. Yes, this doesn't end well. Almost immediately, the chair flips over and the woman goes boom. Fortunately, a passer-by stopped to help her, and a transit employee pressed the emergency stop button. The woman was able to walk away unharmed, but it isn't like she could probably walk anyway. Eesh. [Source]

Yes; and I can't see why it should be a problem. It might be a long way to the elevator.

I hate to see people in wheelchairs I feel for them but there are some things the disabled can't do and there is nothing wrong with that .

speaking as a person who, when assisting a wheel chair bound business partner on an escalator, the steps stopped moving, and he left go of the handrails, and took me down the escalator with him and his wheel chair on top of me and countless surgeries later etc. There happened to be an elevator right nest to the escalator, but I'd seen him use an escalator numerous times, and thought nothing of it. Biggest mistake of my life. There were no warning signs about no wheeled devices on it either. Could you imagine the expense of redesigning all the escalators , which are dangerous as they are? No Way!!!!

I wound up in a hospital cause the woman in the van behind me thought that she could text & drive. Another idiot multi-tasker. So I want the key boards removed off all cell phones. How's that?

That's just silly talk. The world isn't fair and nothing we can do will ever make it that way.

Most buildings which have escalators also have lifts/elevators, so there is no need to waste money redesigning escalators and replacing the ones which are already there. Society does not have a duty to accomodate every individual want on the same scale as the majority need, to attempt to do so would be ridiculous. I'm sure the PC disciples will jump on this poor, foolish womans' bandwagon, but if we don't return to using common sense in this country we're not going to have a country that much longer.

So, IOW, the hell w/ them. A Christian, I assume???

No, not "to hell with them". My point was simply, those in wheelchairs are already accommodated by lifts/elevators. I have yet to enter a building that had an escalator but no lift. Ergo, if the handicapped are already provided access by lift, why would any reasonable person think there's a "need" to make escalators accessible as well? Sounds like pure redundancy to me, and as I said, a terrible waste of time, effort, and money. And no sir, I am not a Christian, I am a member of the Druid and Wican Priesthood... not that it should matter.

So maybe he doesn't like sitting in an elevator staring at others as*es, or he's claustrophobic, or the elevator is in the back, or it's always full. Maybe he doesn't care what you think.

Fair enough, he has every right not to care what I think.

Escalators are available to people with IQs that aren't measured in fractions.

This woman obviously doesn't qualify as one of those.

Usually there are elevators for people with disabilities. I'm surprised there weren't any where she was (that is if there weren't any).
