The big man Shaq is coming out with a larger-than-life idea: his own brand of vodka, called "Luv Shaq." Would you like to try it?

HUFFINGTONPOST.COM reports:Larger-than-life former NBA star Shaquille O'Neal has announced plans to release his own line of vodkas, the New York Post reports.

The brand, called "Luv Shaq" for perhaps no other reason than it sounds awesome, will hit liquor store counters early next year, according to the report, and will be athlete-friendly (sugar- and gluten-free).

It is too gimmicky. That does not bode well for its quality.

I seriously doubt Shaq had anything to do with the creation of the distillation other than putting his name on the bottle for a hefty fee.

...the only difference between this and any other vodka is that a rich, retired jock makes a little more money from the sale of THIS vodka...the poison in the bottle is the same crap as Smirnoff or McCormick...

Since vodka should have no taste or odor, all good vodkas should be practically identical. Shaq's brand would offer nothing but cachet & a higher price tag.

Doesn't sound appealing, and usually these celeb drinks are low end but expensive because of the name behind them. I'll stick to proven quality and higher shelves.

WOULD YOU DRINK KOBE DATE RAPE VODKA? These people are repulsive. Bunch of knuckle draggers at best. What would these clowns do without basket ball be a 7' 5" pimp?
  • kells Buoyant... 2012/12/27 13:17:05 (edited)
Most are college grads and more than likely would have decent paying job besides all that let you be 7'-5" and can play some ball you would not turn down that money.

Knuckle draggers that is a racist comment but I can say this they are laughing to the bank and chasing women while you are sitting on your porch with lip poked out.

    Buoyant Leadraft
Racist? Give it up! On my porch with a poutY lip? REALLY????

Here is the thing... they may have the money but they will never HAVE the respect.
  • kells Buoyant... 2012/12/27 13:54:08
Yea really! I know what racism sound like especially when there's a whole lot of words you could have used besides knuckle draggers considering most of the players are of african decent.

Their pay is a direct reflection of the admiration and respect for what they do I don't think that they will miss you not respecting them.

Dribbling a basket ball makes you a hero? How low have we set the bar anyway?
  • kells Buoyant... 2012/12/27 16:34:13
I hear what you are saying. But it's not low perhaps a kid can use basketball to keep him or herself motivated to stay in school perhaps this kid is not that good but he or she love the game anyway and they attend class to play, at my high school you must maintain a 2.0 to play any sport I will take that vs the kid droping out. I will consider any sport to keep a child in school . So are they heroes? Yes to some kids they are especially for an inner city kid who has few options.
  • Buoyant... kells 2012/12/27 21:22:32

You are gifted in painting a picture... how about wanting to be more then a ball player. I think it is very sad. I don't understand the low drive these people have for anything outside of their "basket ball game" Its like watching a bunch of thugs that can't make it in the real world. Michael vick comes to mind. what a human piece of garbage he is. Sorry just not buying this hero bull crap. A low life thug is a low life thug period!
  • kells Buoyant... 2013/01/04 02:33:23
I am all about being the best that you can be in whatever endevor a person chooses to follow and i am also aware that not all kids like sports but for those who do, if it hepls them to stay in school I'm all in. You fail to understand the complexities of city life in our low income neighborhoods their is that that thug waiting to recruit our kids they fight that temtation everyday due to a lack of a parent or both poor living condidtions all of which are not the childs fault .

I find it unfair for you catergorize African American atheletes as thugs. Question ? Is larry Bird a thug how about Nash or Kasol or Jerry West are these guys included in your thug theory what about Shaq , Magic and Jordan ?

The last time I checked they are in the real world they just happened to be blessed some don't appreaciate it but most do?
  • Dickens kells 2012/12/27 15:45:06 (edited)
...I worked at a college for many years, and most athletes who are "college graduates" leave college STILL unable to read...(..remember, they aren't there to get an education..)
  • kells Dickens 2012/12/27 16:21:18
Who says they are not and what percentage of atheletes leave without being able to read ? And how do they get in in the first place? What school do you work at? I won't send any kids there if they are allowing kids to enter college with out being able to read and not improving their status apon leaving, to make matters worst taking thier money or the governments money and sending them back out after 4 years the same way they came in is definately clear case of BS? I belive that most athetes realize the risk of being injured could cost them a career also the percentage of being a potential draft pick is very low this leads me to belive that they know they need a back up plan therefore I belive most can read.

Perhaps his vodka and some cayenne pepper can be used as a hair tonic to see if the two can stimulate hair growth. Other than that, Ill stick with my sherry, a burgundy or perhaps a Samuel Adams!

    No, because I don't drink.

    Shaq is pretty cool, though.
