the poll question was , why did SH remove the politics section? Of course we all know NOW that we can go to the area you mentioned. I think many of us who actually answer a broad spectrum of different questions knew that already. The question is why do people think SH removed it and WHY didnt we get a memo on it? Stupid poll? Im not defending the poll mind you I just need to wonder why it's considered stupid by you when it's a legitimate question that SH has still not answered. Not that anyone really thinks they will if there is some political posturing going on.

I suspect there are a couple things at work here:
1) The level of vitriol has resulted in terminating some SH members and turned off many others;
2) We use this platform free of charge and SH has to be able to pay for the costs incurred through advertising.

The objective in dropping the category may be to keep peace by dispersing political polls, while they hope to maintain an atmosphere conducive to attracting and keeping advertisers on the site. If the atmosphere gets progressively hostile between members, it puts the whole operation in jeopardy. SH does not want to be in the position Fox News is currently, albeit a manufactured plot to oust Beck from the network and silence critics of the current administration. Media outlets operate close to the margins, so we should not take for granted the availability of any given site. We should expect to maintain our freedom of speech, but that means we have to use it responsibly.

Not trying to lecture anyone. Simply see it from the perspective I think SH sees it. This is their livelihood. Do we have the right to jeopardize it when we enjoy it without charge?!

I have to wonder why several of our conservatives are banned and many disgusting libs are still on.

Not that I know of. There seem to be a lot of political websites with a lot of user interaction, but they're usually lacking in other categories for discussion, such as entertainment, sports, religion, etc.

Might be a good business to get into if you're enterprising and have really good programming skills.

The point is, from my perspective anyway (memos, we don' need no steenking memos), that somebody decided to have one less toy box, but all the toys are still there. Makes sense to me, after all hasn't the whole country gone political? Politics is just so yesterday in the english language. We are the politic, so why not just make it all US?
